Best Air Carrier from NYC to NOLA?

DH and I have begun to book flights from NYC to NOLA for orientation, move-in and parents weekend. As far as we can tell, the best nonstop flights are on Continental from Newark. Are there any current Tulane parents who can advise us about this?

“Best” how? price? comfort?
not a current parent…but someone who just spent the last week trying to get the best fare to NOLA for March…

Continental: Embraer J145: small 40 seat plane for a 2.5 hr flight; 1 seat on one side of the plane, two seats across the aisle…when the first 10 or so seats get sold out, price goes up substantially…Personally, I’m not thrilled with these planes even for short flights…

Delta: out of LGA (have no idea where you live)…just booked this morning on a large jet (6 across seating)…$239 round trip…

Both have multiple flights/day but it seems like Continental is trying to rip off customers based on the limited seats on the flights…

And I always fly Continental…fwiw

We have flown Continental the few times we have gone down. They’ve had the lowest prices for non-stop flights.

We (and especially daughter) go the N.O.-N.Y. route on a regular basis and much prefer JetBlue. The Continental planes are so small, and I seem to get placed in the back where there is a lot of vibration. Delta often runs late. JetBlue is not perfect, but all in all, over her 4 years in N.Y., it has definitely been the most positive experience. I guess a lot of it depends on where you are, but coming and going from JFK has worked fine for her.
