Best and Worst Colleges for Curly Hair (Weather-wise)

<p>My daughter has very few criteria for picking a college, other than 2-10K undergrad size and fairly selective. So we’re trying to narrow it down by figuring out where would be good (or bad) for her super-curly hair. Any suggestions?</p>

<p>Lol…what? I thought my criteria were superficial, but I think I’ve been outdone. Make your daughter research colleges more rigorously-- make her look at colleges from all possible perspectives (academics, research opportunities, internships, professors, location, etc.). And yes, you two should invest in good hair products.</p>

<p>Other than that, get a haircut…a really short cut. Solve the problem. Avoid the dramas.</p>

<p>As someone with curly hair, I understand the concern. </p>

<p>Rain is the biggest problem. </p>

<p>Humidity isn’t much of a problem because that’s mostly in the summer and serums pretty much protect from that these days.</p>

<p>I’d avoid rainy/wet climates and stick with warmer climate schools.</p>

<p>However, if your budget is limiting, you may have fewer options.</p>

<p>I totally understand this, haha. Does your D straighten her hair or wear it naturally curly? Humidity is actually good for naturally curly hair! It brings out the curl more.</p>

<p>Colleges in places with high humidity would probably be like Tulane (New Orleans), any school in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Seattle, Oregon…etc. </p>

<p>Colleges in places with low humidity would be places in the desert, like schools in SoCal, Nevada, or Arizona. Also, the East Coast is fairly dry during the winter, which is when your daughter will be spending the majority of her schooling. Of course, there are loads of great schools in New England.</p>
