Best: Trees, trees, trees! The campus is really beautiful and people @ Santa Cruz are real chill. (well, most of them)

Worst: Those annoying kids that like, say like, like after every other word. It gets to the point where I’m not even paying attention to what they’re saying, instead I’m counting the number of likes they have just said (Record # is 22)

So, current students and alumni, what do you think is the best and worst of UC Santa Cruz?

Where are you from because I’m pretty immune to the likes after, like, every word. (I’m from San Diego).

Best: The professors who care about their classes and students. The Porter maintenance lady, Kathy Cooney. The people who don’t suck here (95% of the school is freaking awesome.)
Worst: The people who don’t want to be here and are always talking about the schools they might transfer to. And the College 8 dining hall.

I’ve also had over a year to think about this…so my list is a lot longer than this.

Best: The passionate professors, the forest, the passionate students you find in your major through clubs and extracurriculars

Worse: Students who never find time for their studies between weed and alcohol, protesters who take over parts of your school because they think it is the only way people will listen, dining hall food

I’m from Los Angeles, specifically from the San Fernando Valley area
I agree with you about people who don’t want to be here. Why not do us all a favor by going to a community college and *****ing about it there?

The Porter Caves are behind the Porter meadow. They’re really not that great. It’s creepy as hell down there and you’re breathing in large amounts of dust… And yet some people absolutely love them.

I’d like to add something to the best list: cruzmail switching to gmail. Oh my god I hated that cruzmail so much. There was no spam blocker that I could see, and it was so clunky to use.

actually in Porter caves your not breathing in lots of dusts, the air isn’t dead so i believe it must have a second entrance. And I love the cave for the extensive cavern but to each there own i suppose.

and yes switching to gmail was a great move.

I found myself coughing up dirt. I mean, the caves are cool, I just wouldn’t call them one of the best features of Santa Cruz. Kresge Swing…maybe.

Yeah we venture upon homeless kids sometimes. They usually are really nice and just wanna smoke with you and feel welcome. If you just ask about their travels, they appreciate you not treating them like dirt.

I love that freakin cave, it’s pretty spooky, and when I’m in there I feel like I’m gonna get mugged by the bum from Mulholland Drive

Best: Scenic views everywhere, hiking trails, friendly professors and students, family of raccoons that are regulars at the Porter Quad, Santa Cruz in general!

Worst: My unfinished apartment, College 8 dining hall not being open late everyday, the upcoming rain season :/

I loveeeeee the rainy season here. It makes the forest come to life, plus you get to go mushroom hunting (non-magical variety, of course)! And then the meadow gets all green and plus there’s always the first rain woo
