I am going to take AP Calc AB in my school, but I wanted to take the Calc BC exam by self-studying the extra couple chapters. What is the best study guide to use for this purpose?

Well, I did this and I just read my textbook (Larson 8th edition) b/c it came with those extra BC topics

you can also get a review book like Peterson’s and read the extra material

Thanks, any others who have experienced this?

Bump…I took AB last year and am self-studying BC this year, need this information as well, nice post Wildcat343.

took AB/BC as a junior. AB was 1st semester and BC was second semester. Got a 4 on exam.

Studied the textbook, did PR, did REA. Also, do all the FRQ’s that college board releases on their website, it really helps cause you know what their looking for and can pretty much know what questions they’re going to ask before you take the exam.

make sure you study Taylor and Maclaurin polynomials! The topic difficult to grasp, but once you get it its easy. Except the AP questions, they are hard. There will be one FRQ on them.

Yeah, make sure you memorize the maclaurin expansions for sin x, cos x, e^x, 1/(1+x^2) (i think)

just read the extra stuff a couple of times - you may also want to check out Paul’s Online Calculus Notes (google it)

I heard PR is good.

^^ PR makes it simple, but also doesn’t give much practice with the type of problems that will be on the test.

Peterson’s (or Be Prepared) is the best one. And if you don’t study anything much related to BC topics, STUDY SERIES. It will get you that 4 or 5. I didn’t and got a 3…:(

Be Prepared for the AP Calculus Exam is easily the best AP calculus guide out there

Who writes that?

^ Again, that’s the Peterson’s book.

No Master the AP Calculus test is Petersons. Be prepared for the AP Calculus test is Skylit publishers or something. They r different though. I used the Petersons book last year to self study for the AB test and got a 5 it is an amazing book. I am probably going to get the be prepared book this year for the BC test as a supplement to the Peterson book.

Hope this helps
