Best beauty blog I have ever found!

Hi ladies! I just wanted to share the best blog I’ve found…it’s all in one. It’s called Hot and Flashy. It belongs to a 53 or 54 year old named Angie and she’s been doing it about 5 or 6 years. It has all sorts of info and she tries out tons of things. She has exercise youtubes, fashion, anti aging, recipes. She has linked to tons of her products, and discounts on many. Her fashion style is what I like, and I’ve already purchased some sunglasses, necklace, shoes, exercise bands that she had. I’ve also purchased two skincare products to put on in the morning and night. They arrive soon. I had an appt. with my dermatologist today and asked her about them. She said they are safe and uses one each morning herself.

Her eyes were really droopy in the first years and not so much now. She swears she’s had no surgery and even did a video about why she thinks that is (retin a and Botox).

Anyway, I love this blog and thought I’d share my find.

I started following her a few months ago because someone mentioned her here on CC. I really enjoy her posts. She generally has new ones on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Thanks, that’s good to know. I just watched another video that showed a 6 month trial she did between two products for creepy skin. She has before and after pics. I think I’m going to have to buy that now, too!

I’ve followed her blog and youtube videos for a while now and use a number of the very reasonably priced products she mentions for her anti-aging skin routine – with great results!

I’m going to check it out- thanks for the heads up.

The only thing I don’t watch or like are her makeup tutorials. They are good for seeing what eyeshadows are out there and her thoughts, but I can’t apply my makeup the way she goes. My hooded eyes are like this… / . and when I do the crease and moving part of my eyelid on the outside in a darker color the way she does, it is much more pronounced. I’ve mentioned this before, but the straight line eyeshadow application, which is on the web, really lifts the sad eyes up. No dark at all on the moving part of the eyelid either, that is one of the keys.

I need to know if any of the eye serums or creams really work on puffy bags. I don’t care about wrinkles, but the puffy bags are killing me. She doesn’t look like she has that problem.

I agree, she doesn’t seem to have it. I did watch a video where she says she sleeps with her head slightly elevated so fluids don’t pool underneath her eyes. I don’t see me doing that. She also trained herself to sleep on her back.

I’m going to check her out. Thank you!

I am hairstyle challenged and recently got a new and different haircut - which I do not know how to style. So searching on the web, I found Dominique Sachse (which I don’t know who she is), who is a whiz at blowdrying tutorials. I’ve been getting so many compliments since I found her techniques. I can now have beachy waves all by myself!

Sleep on my back? LOL yeah, No. Not gonna happen.

I saw that video also about sleeping on her back using a wedge. Totally agree, much as I’d love to see my under eye bags diminish, that’s not going to happen. I also have dark circles which she doesn’t have so I haven’t found her overly helpful for those two issues in particular, I have learned quite a bit from her and have changed my products and routines in response.

Now off to google Dominique Sachse…thank you@zoosermom.

Yes, thanks @zoosermom . She actually decided to sleep on her back for chest wrinkles.

Dominique Sachse also does some good videos on how to tie a scarf - something I always struggle with. I believe she is one of the news anchors in Houston.

^ oh I like her! Her beachy waves for short hair tutorial is just what I needed.

What is “creepy skin”? Or do you mean crepey?

Well, yes. But I guess it’s both…at least on me.

^^^^LOL.

Has anyone checked out the printable guide to her AM and PM skin care routines? Seven products in the morning and nine in the evening. Every day. Skin care only, that’s not make-up. Her skin is beautiful, so it clearly works, but yowza–that is a lot of steps.

I looked at that list and thought it seemed excessive. I get the feeling she has always taken care of her skin. (Unless I missed a “before” picture somewhere.) I’m not sure anything can reverse the sun damage from my young days of slathering on baby oil and laying out for hours. I wonder how all those layers of serums and creams can work once the first layer is applied?

Think she looks terrific for 54 but my instincts tell me genetics has a lot more to do with it than skin care products. I really enjoy her videos on wardrobe and fashion. She strikes a good balance and looks current without that “trying too hard” look.

The skin care routine not so much – way too many products for me. And she started with a very good palette – what works for her may not translate to other women with very different skin issues.
