Best books for international students taking the US History test?

Hi all, I’m a high school senior from Vietnam, and will be taking the US History subject test this November. I currently own Peterson’s USHis book, but feel that its material is too scanty. (I’m no longer allowed access to the Internet, so Googling and Wiki-ing is out of the question.)

My problem is, yes, I’m familliar with US history, but our textbook only devoted 45 mins to everything that happened before America brings troops to Vietnam. (We do have a large chunk of the second semester studying the US/VN conflict, though, so that’s covered.) What books would you guys recommend that is the equivalent of an USHis textbook? Thanks <3

If you’re only aiming for high scores and don’t really care about in-depth history, then Princeton Review’s and Barron’s SAT Subject Test US History books are good. I used both and I suggest you do too unless you have severe financial constraints. Basically read Princeton Review’s summary for the overview then study the timeline in Barron’s book. I did just that and took it last week, and although I cannot imagine an 800, I did considerably well for someone who had absolutely no prior knowledge in US History and just one month to prepare.
