Best books for self-studying AP World History? + QUESTION

What are the best books for self-studying AP World History? I’m in Australia and therefore don’t have any AP classes. My question is, do you take a new AP every year?

For example

Sophmore: Macroeconomics, microeconomics, world history
Junior: English Language and Composition, US History,
Senior: German, French, European history

Or can you repeat subjects?

World history is an extremely broad topic and will probably be a little bit harder to self study for. That being said, thia is what I’ve heard about all of the more used prep books for AP world.
Barron’s- Too much unnecassary detail as the exam focuses on big-picture concepts. Still good enough for the exam though.
Princeton Review- Very general and a great review. Not too much detail though, and most people are using this in addition to a class.
Ethel Woods- Just the right amount of detail, not too general and not too deep.

Most people will take an AP class and then take the exam for that class. After that, they are done with that subject(unless they take a subject test or want to study it in college). However, if a person doesn’t like their score on the exam, they may retake it the following year in hopes for a better score. It wouldn’t make much sense to take the same AP class two years in a row.
