What are your favorite college traditions?
One of the things I always thought was so cool was this thing called the Thesis Parade. Every year, the Monday after finals, everyone who wrote an Honors Thesis dresses up in costume with their advisor (related to what they did, e.g., my philosophy major friend who wrote her thesis on animal rights dressed up as a cat complete with cat ears). They then parade around the entire school and end at the registrar’s office, where the title of each one is announced, and then each senior goes inside to turn it in, and the Dean bangs a gong afterwards. They invented it to counteract the anti-climacticness of turning in your thesis, and I think it’s silly in the best way.
