Are there certain colleges that offer full or close to full ride for ACT score of 34?

Are you asking for a current senior???

We heard back from Tulane today and the aid package offered was pathetic compared to the EFC calculated by FAFSA. Very disappointing as we thought this school had generous aid packages.

Did Tulane offer a merit award for the high ACT score? What was your FAFSA EFC? Is Tulane a CSS school?
The high ACT is for my junior student. My senior did not have similar testing. Our FAFSA EFC was very low. It is a CSS school.
Tulane is known for its merit scholarships for high stats. I’ve never heard that it’s known for very good need-based aid.
In the reviews by various publications, Tulane is reported as meeting from 94 to 96% of need.
That is only concerning ENROLLED students. That figure does NOT include the number of accepted students who had high need, average scores for the school, who didn’t get great aid…and did not enroll.
So that number could mean that the school is filled with a bunch of kids who either had lowish need…and kids who have more need, but qualified for large merit.
And…Collegeboard says that Tulane considers Academics when awarding need based aid. That means that they give preferential pkging…the better the stats, the better the awards.
They don’t bother being generous with kids whose stats aren’t that desirable for the school. Sad but it’s their policy.
Those numbers are meaningless.
Good points. My senior student has good stats, but may be on the lower end of the acceptance pool. Too bad because it seems like a great place, but they do not seem willing to invest much in the way of grants.
