<p>Hi, I am just wondering what the best schools that I could get into (based on prestige). I have an unweighted of 3.83 and weighted of 4.61, and I have done a few extra curricular activities, such as: an executive board position for my city’s youth council, reading buddies (read and assist struggling elementary students, marching band through high school, bio- engineering camp, beta club, national honors society, served as a juror for teen court through an organized program, and I am going to join student council this year. Im also enrolled into North Carolina School of Science and Math’s online program. I dont know if this helps, but I am an African American male, and I’m leaning toward the medical field. With this alone, what colleges would you recommend.</p>
<p>You have a strong profile, but have you taken the SAT/SAT II or ACT yet? That’s an important criterion for most universities.</p>

<p>That’s a very high GPA and very low SAT/ACT scores; it looks like you did better on the ACT, so I recommend you retake that and shoot for 32+ (34+ would be even better!), because otherwise your poor test scores will bring down your otherwise stellar application!</p>

<p>You have little chance for Duke with your test scores.</p>
<p>You need to look at the test score quartiles for various schools to figure out where your scores fit. </p>

<p>3.83 can pretty much get you anywhere as long as you have the SAT/ACT to bat. The difference between 26 and 28 is pretty significant so if you can figure out which you have then that will affect your options. Being an URM definitely helps, so if you have 3.83/28 you have a decent shot at pretty much anywhere. If you can get that ACT to 30+ then your chances will increase even more. Good luck. :)</p>

<p>Brandeis just went test optional, is very strong in sciences, and would love an AA male from the south.</p>
<p>ok, I know that my test scores are low, and I’m going to attempt to pull those up. I’m going to take the SAT probably twice more and the Act probably once or twice more. I also meant to add that I was part of an African American male leadership program, which I was selected for along with maybe 6 or 7 others from my school, to represent my school amongst the rest of the schools in my county. I was also planning to start an African American or even just a male leadership club at my school this upcoming year. Duke is my dream school, and I would love to attend there. If I pull up my scores, do you guys think I have a chance; is there anything else I should do? </p>

<p>Holy Cross near Boston has top pre-med program. Holy Cross is also SAT optional and offers good financial aid</p>
