My son was just accepted into UM-Ann Arbor’s College of Engineering after two years at Washtenaw Community College. WCC has a program called M-Pod in which a counselor helps guide you into a desirable UM candidate.

I would guess that WCC isn’t on a list of Top 100 Community Colleges but it worked out beautifully for my son.

I could be entirely wrong but I would guess that when you apply to grad school you have to provide a college transcript, in addition to the diploma. So Harvard, UPenn and MIT (aiming high!) will know if your degree is from UM-Ann Arbor or a satellite. I suspect that it will matter to them.

I wish you the best of luck!
