The college I want to go to is the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor for Business Administration. My counselor is saying that I should go to the one in Dearborn, he was saying the degree does not say which one I went to… does it really matter? I want my Bachelors from UofM and my MBA from either UPenn, MIT, or Harvard.

My son was just accepted into UM-Ann Arbor’s College of Engineering after two years at Washtenaw Community College. WCC has a program called M-Pod in which a counselor helps guide you into a desirable UM candidate.

I would guess that WCC isn’t on a list of Top 100 Community Colleges but it worked out beautifully for my son.

I could be entirely wrong but I would guess that when you apply to grad school you have to provide a college transcript, in addition to the diploma. So Harvard, UPenn and MIT (aiming high!) will know if your degree is from UM-Ann Arbor or a satellite. I suspect that it will matter to them.

I have decided to attend Macomb Community College. I was considering Oakland cc, but they do not have spring semesters, so they made my decision easier.

I looked into Washtenaw cc since it was in Ann Arbor, but it doesn’t seem like many of their classes would transfer, in which I thought was as weird as that it looks like none of the credits from the other uofm locations don’t transfer to Ann Arbor. With that program, maybe more would transfer over, but I think Macomb is a great choice for me, it’s slightly cheaper than Washtenaw cc.

Best wishes for your time at Macomb! I understand wanting spring semesters. My son attended several of those in order to get caught up with the courses that UM wanted to see completed.

Happily, UM accepted virtually all of his credits… about 70 of them. The only ones that weren’t accepted were the pre-chemistry and pre-calculus.

You sound like you have a great plan in place!
