<p>I try kayak plus my entertainment card and rentalcars.com
Also, I rent a car and then I try again a few days before I leave in case prices have gone down.</p>

<p>My husband is in favor of priceline. We’ve gotten some nicer cars that way.</p>

<p>When we did our Chicago-Pittsburgh college visit trip, I got the best price in Chicago from Priceline and the best price in Pittsburgh from Hotwire.</p>

<p>A friend just recommended Hotwire to me. She says she uses it all the time, never pays over $20/day, usually ends up with Hertz.</p>

<p><strong>Warning: Shameless bragging that won’t help anyone else out</strong> My BIL works for Hertz, so we get a “family” discount. It’s almost as good as the employee discount. We’ve used it a lot, ended up saving between 40 - 80% on rates!</p>
