I am home-schooled and I am taking classes at a local CC. I have taken Biology I and Chemistry I which I received A’s in both classes. I am taking Into Business and Intro Sociology this semester (so far I have A’s in both).

What would be good classes to take over the summer and next fall/spring?

If I started taking dual-enrollment classes at NC State would my chances of admittance be higher?

How much weight do you think Dual Enrollment classes have?

Yes, dual-enrollment would seem like you’re taking initiative to further your learning. I don’t know what you like, but perhaps you could take a foreign language or advanced math? Or, you could go on to Organic Chem… if you have the time/interest to do so…

Do you think there would be any class that would be especially impressive?

Dual enrollment is a great way to show that you’re going as far as you can with your high school education. I’m also high school and I’ve made extensive use of my community college since 8th grade (now I’ve taken 74 semester hours and counting. It will be 84 after this semester).

My recommendation is to take classes that you’re interested in and that show a high academic level.

If you like literature, think about something like “Intro to Shakespeare.” It sounds like a silly class, but at my community college it was a 200 level course and by far my most involved. Of course this depends from college to college :P

Other recommendations: Organic Chem if you’re into chemistry, high level math, economics :)

Classes like Calc III, DFQ and OChem can be impressive.

As a home-schooled student I would think some dual enrollment classes would be quite helpful, especially if you are getting A’s. You might check with other home-schoolers.
