Best Engineering School for Me

I haven’t taken, nor do I plan to take the Physics and Chemistry SAT subject tests. I have taken subject tests in US History, Biology, and Math 2. With the subject tests I have taken, which top engineering colleges can I apply to. I plan to go into MechE.

except mit most other top engineering programs do not require sat2. your sats will work for mit and most other schools.

What are your SAT scores?

What is your GPA?

What is your budget? How much will your parents pay?

What else do you want in a school?

Sat: 1900(should get ~2100+ second time) GPA: 4.0 . I’m low income so I need a school with good finaid. I’d prefer a urban or suburban, medium to large size school.

Since you’re low income and need lots of aid you need high scores to get accepted to many of the full-need schools that have engineering.

Even a 2100 may not be high enough for some of these full-need schools.

What state are you in?

Also, I’d like to stay in the northeast, but my mind is open and I’m not really interested in public schools.

I’m in New York and I’m looking for a few reach schools to apply to.

WPI–get your SAT up and they have full scholarship
RPI
Union
Syracuse

You could reach a little higher for Northeastern or BU.

I don’t think NE or BU meet need.

This student needs full aid.

Look into Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, a short subway ride to downtown, across expressway from White Sox. Excellent school for engineering, but not on anyone’s radar screen it seems. Should give you plenty of financial aid if you’re from east/west coasts.

For my reaches, I think I’m gonna apply to Cornell and Lehigh.

Does anyone know any other good schools for an engineer with great finaid that don’t require a Physics or Chemistry subject test?

Bump 10char

Add URochester as a match/reach! They meet full need and have merit aid that you might qualify for if you write killer essays and get those scores up. I’d also say Lehigh is a match, not a reach, if you can get your SAT up. Its slightly less selective than UR.

Look at Bucknell–one of the top 10, often top 5, ranked undergraduate in almost every area of engineering that they offer.
