Best Friends

My best friend died last night. She was diagnosed with cancer in August. She has blessed me with the opportunity of takig care of her dog. So now my pack is bigger…he is a doll…he has been with us pretty much fulltime and it is amazing how all the dogs in the house know something has changed

I just want to say, take care of your friendships, keep them going, be kind, and nuture them. Don’t let them slip away.

I was lucky I had such a wonderful friend. She was an amazing person. THe hole is huge right now…but it will get better.

THank you letting me share

My condolences to you on your friend’s death. It is so difficult to have a friend pass away, and it’s especially sad that our society doesn’t really have rituals that acknowlege this kind of very painful loss.

It is good that you have her dog. I’m sure it was a comfort to your friend to know that her dog would be so lovingly taken care of after her death. It’s nice that he’s bringing you such cheer and love.

OMG, cgm, I am SOOOOOOOOOO sorry to hear about your best friend. :frowning: My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. True best friends are astonishingly hard to find. I am glad that she had you in her life as she faced her illness. I’m sure you brought her much comfort.

{{{{{{{gentle hugs}}}}}}} to you and to all who knew and loved your precious friend…

Wishing you comfort and peace~

CGM, my condolences. How very sad. It sounds like you were indeed lucky to have such a wonderful person in your life, and it sounds like she was lucky too.

thank you all…it is just so sad…she was one classy lady…

I’m so sorry, CGM.
How true…

CGM, my condolences as well. I am glad you have the puppy to feel the physical connection continue.

I lost a friend - not a best friend - similarly last year. We lived on opposite coasts and were not so much in touch. When I was on the left coast, I felt awkward contacting her… not sure she would want to see anyone, but went ahead and did it. I am so glad I did. Her joy in making the connection was palpable. Our afternoon together, which turned out to be a few weeks before she died, was one in which I felt I was in the presence of wisdom.

I’m sure you must have gained much from your friend and will always treasure it, although cut short.

CGM,
How very tragic. Your post brought tears to my eyes. I’m sure that you were a comfort to her since her diagnosis. I’m hoping the pup will be a lovely reminder of a wonderful friendship and will bring a smile to your face.

I think something that helped was knowing that her dog, the love of her life, would be taken care of.

So please consider making those kinds of plans.

CGM,
So very sorry to hear of the loss of your best friend. Thinking of you.

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. What a comfort it must have been to her to know that her beloved pet was going to be with you.

I’m so sorry that you’ve lost your best friend cgm. It must have been such a blessing for her to know her pet had a home to go to, and that he’ll be loved.

Thank you for the reminder to nurture and celebrate those things which are most important in life. My condolences on your loss, and strength to keep her memory alive through her sweet dog. You brought her peace; what a fine friendship.

I am so sorry. I hope that the bond that you continue to build with her dog, will bring much comfort.

CGM, I lost my best friend in 1977 (sophomore in college…she died in a car accident). Unfortunately, the hole never goes away…I did end up naming my D after her, and every time I hear her name, it makes me smile :)

my condolences. i am sorry you have to go through this

Right now I am working on a letter from her dog that I will read at the service…he is a very smart dog, and his perspective about her friends is very special…and he is a border collie, after all…my friend rescued him and he was quite the mess…he wants to thank her for saving his life and being the best people-mom ever…and to thank her friends for taking care of her…he was indeed the joy of her life…

and I have the hairy ones laying at my feet…they seem to be more calm today than usual, not barking at each and every noise

thank you for all you thoughts…it means a lot

What a beautiful idea! And I’m sure it will make you feel better just helping her sweet pup write it…
