Best habits to pick up in college?

What are the best habits to pick up in college? If there are any lol >>> kidding :)

Learning to do your laundry, somewhat regularly.

Also, learning how to run your life, in general, without dying/starving/being smelly/etc

Adhering to a schedule, doing things on your own, managing finances, putting work before fun, getting other priorities straightened out, etc.

How to produce during crunch time (i.e. finishing a five page paper the morning its due).

If you join a fraternity, you’ll almost certainly have to learn how to iron.

Being able to drink about 5-6 more beers than you could before you left

Being able to do 4-5 shots no problem.

At parties do you have to pay for booze or is it free of charge? Or bring your own?

Well, someone else paid for all that alcohol, which isn’t too cheap these days. Do you think they’re just going to offer it up to a bunch of strangers in their house for free so they can have a good time?

I guess you really do goto college to learn these things.

Sometimes parties are free, sometimes not. Most of the parties I’ve been to were free, unless they had MASSIVE amounts of alcohol, a DJ, a bartender, or some combination thereof. Also, if you’re a girl, typically you can get into even paid parties free or of lesser charge than guys.

^ So how does that go for people under 21 at parties when they have to buy alcohol? Will whoever is selling the alcohol just not care about one’s age?

lol…bigb, u really think the drinking age stops ANYONE from drinking? that’s like saying cannabis prohibition stops anyone from toking up.

alot of frats have to have ID checks and wrists bands…but there’s a MILLION ways around that…for example…wristbands can be gotten legitimatley @ the door, or if u kno someone @ the house, they’ll hook u up with an extra one, or you can get wrist bands more than once by going to the door at a later time (if a friend has an ID) or so on.

I’m not saying it stops anybody, I was just wondering how it works out since harmon25 implied that alcohol isn’t free at parties. What about house or apartment parties though? How does getting alcohol work at those?

wow ppl have to get out more

At the parties I’ve been to where it costs money, it was just: pay at the door (between $2-10, avg $5), go on your way, keg is over there help yourself. Seriously, college students don’t check IDs.

BTW, if the cops every get called to a party you’re at, and you’re underage, DONT LEAVE. Under ANY circumstances. Because they can and WILL get you for minor in possession, or minor under the influence. And DO NOT let the people at the party allow the cops inside. Cops cannot enter your house without a warrant, or unless you give them serious reason. They can’t just say, “Oh, that person over there doesn’t look 21 and yet they are drinking, we can now enter your house forcefully.” Because for all they know, that person is just young-looking for their age. Unless they know for certain that underage persons are present, they can’t do anything.

Here’s a habit to pick up, don’t drink, don’t do drugs. Go to college to learn, not just to get wasted. Be intellectual, not drunk

i have heard so many stories from friends and from the night I stayed over at NU, underage drinking prevention is very lax. i mean i had a great night on a special event for admitted students. You’d think they’d be looking for parties with hs seniors drinkng right? not at all. one of my friends at a bar at Penn w/friends was let into bar w/o any id check and cops came in and all they said was for the students to go back to campus. thats it. im not worried at all. just dont go out drunk and go wild around campus. use common sense and I think everything will be great.

thats good advice AUlostchick

i never knew there could be a virtual buzzkill, but math nerd here just ceased my interest on this thread

AUlostchick - Where the parties you said that you paid money for at the entrance frat parties or house/apartment parties?

BTW I appreciate your advice and agree with ric :)
