I have thick hair which has natural wave and frizz! Best products I have ever found are Sexy Hair Soy Renewal and my Chi flat iron. I’m always surprised I even have any hair to deal with since I shed worse than a dog!
Are there any other products that you have found that work great on taming thick manes? Always looking for different products to try.
I have a stock of about 15 bottles of the Soy Renewal in case it ever gets discontinued. I told my stylist about it and she started using it on her clients with thick hair. She says it shortens the blow drying time, which it does as an added benefit.

I love Kiehl’s silk groom serum. I just bought it for my sister (we have the same hair – thick, wavy, frizzy and it gets bushy when it’s too dry). It’s expensive ($18 for a 2.5 oz bottle) but you use so little (a pea-sized amount) it lasts for a year. Plus it’s lightweight and adds shine. I’ve tried leave in conditions from Garnier but they make my hair feel sticky and gunky.

I’ve never tried a flat iron. I’m afraid I’ll end up burnt and bald.

I am looking for options too. I have used Aveda to Neutrogena, Paul Mitchell to Moraccan Oil. It feels like the magic of the expensive ones lasts only a couple of months and then my hair is back to frizzy.

My trick is to use Argan oil after washing hair. $10 a bottle. I have the expensive Aveda and Loreal shampoos/conditioners, but adding these oil tames my frizz and adds shine. Now, it doesn’t matter what shampoo I use. Someone suggested I try Wen, but I haven’t yet.

I also bought Argan shower oil for my dry skin, at Body Works.

I use Liggetts bar shampoo, and often don’t need conditioner, although I do use jojoba oil over night every other week or so.
I also love this stuff. I recommended it on the fine hair thread, but with fine hair it is really easy to use too much. It works even better on coarser hair.

I found a product through the company Birchbox (a monthly beauty box subscription service) that has been a MIRACLE for my thick/wavy/frizzy hair. I swear, I will never stop using it. It is called Beauty Protector, and it is a leave-in conditioner, heat protecter, UV protector, detangler, etc. You spray it on damp-hair before you blow-dry. I can almost go without straightening when using this product. It smells amazing too.

You don’t have to have a Birchbox subscription to buy full-size products from their site either. https://www.birchbox.com/shop/beauty-protector-protect-and-detangle-spray

I also found something via Birchbox that I LOVE, it’s called Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect:

Linking to Amazon because it’s cheaper than Birchbox…

I am a fan of Wen. I bought a sample travel size from Sephora as it was recommended by my cousin and the sample size seemed to fit my needs when I was heading to France earlier this fall. I really liked the Wen product, plus it is sulfate free. My sample size also came with a conditioning spray that I would recommend.

Bain de Terre Anti-Frizz Serum. I used it when I was younger and have used other products over the years, but none have worked as well. It’s light and doesn’t feel greasy or leave a strong scent, but it works to manage my hair. http://www.amazon.com/Bain-Terre-Styling-Anti-Frizz-Shine/dp/B003E0Z04Y/ref=pd_sim_hpc_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0E24864NA5HF6JNVC0DN

I have thick, coarse hair which has a tendency to frizz. I always thought that if I were at all talented in the styling area that I’d love my hair – it holds curl and has body. But my sister got all the styling talent (along with her fine, straight hair.)

I use Pureology shampoo & conditioner, but I forget which version – maybe has “smooth” in the title? But the product that I absolutely adore and wish had been invented back in the 70’s is the 1 1/4" Instyler. It gives me the hair I always wanted – it’s actually soft to the touch!

I’m the farthest thing from a glamor girl, but I adore this styling tool. And it’s quiet, too. I got the wet-to-dry version though it works better on dry hair.

Wen
or the Sally’s generic of Wen

I like the "It’s a 10 Miracle leave in product " - they also have keratin version. I’ve been wanting to try the Wen product as I’m so curious about it. I am pretty good with a blow dryer and a flat iron but agree good products help.

@mom2collegekids What’s the name of the Sally’s generic of Wen?

You might find the Redken Curvaceous products work for your hair type. I love them!

Sally’s Wen Generic

Hair One

BUT…beware of the curly version. It has argan, which is fine, but I think it has too much argan and can make hair appear oily.

So, I mix the Curly version with the Colored-hair version.

Yes, too much argan oil and you might as well shampoo again and start over. Redken Smooth Down caused the too much argan oil in the hair for me if I wasn’t being careful.

@mom2collegekids Thanks for the recommendation. I tried the Hair One for colored hair and I like it. My hair feels very soft.

@green678 Good!! :)
