If you could own one high performance sports car which one would you pick? If it were given to you free, let’s say, as a belated graduation gift which one would you pick and why?
Why do I ask?
Well, I like the Mazda 6. So I went to YouTube to see a few videos. I realized I don’t like the Mazda 6 that much so the next time I buy a car, a few years from now, I’ll probably go with the Honda Civic. I don’t need a car that can go from zero to 100 in 6 seconds. However, while I was watching YT vids I happened across a few of some amazing looking cars. The sound of the engine alone made me swoon and I am not a car geek at all. I prefer more practical investments. But, even for me, the allure of those kinds of cars is hard to ignore.
They’re all different and all desirable. If I was a multi millionaire I’d probably have a Ferrari and McLaren in the garage for fun drives and weekends at the track but a regular old Porsche Cayman for getting my morning coffee.
We have a family connection at AUDI. They can get an employee discount. Maybe if we place a volume CC order for the R8 we could talk them into 15% off the published rate
I would spend the $$$ we set aside for Mr B’s vaporware tin can - on another tin can, Model S, so the neighbors would not laugh at his batwingmobile. OTOH, rumors are that vaporware will be able to tow a decent size fishing boat… redneck heaven!
I’m not a car guy either, trust me, I’m sure my neighbors don’t care what I drive, and for those of you who think you can handle it …go to youtube … I dare you … look up a video test driving one of these high ends things … just listen to the engine … and tell me you aren’t moved a little bit. Tell me it didn’t get to you some.
Funny how guys might have to spend $250,000 for a sports car to get attention cruising at beach and a girl can get attention for so much less just wearing a $10 bikini.
I’d go with a comfortable luxury car instead- they have plenty of zoom but also are comfortable. Lexus- had the RX 330, now the ES 350. H is (or was) into cars- learned a lot from his Car and Driver subscriptions decades ago. Know what I like and don’t care about any wow factor.
There’s a guy by us who bought a Lamborghini new. He keeps it in a special temperature controlled garage at his house I guess so the Florida heat and humidity don’t mess it up. He only takes it out on road a couple of times a year. Doesn’t make sense to me spending all that kind of money for something g he hardly uses. I can’t image he bought it as an investment because cars usually depreciate in value, not appreciate over years. I think he got it just so he can tell people he has a Lamborghini. It’s his business, but it seems stupid buying something like that.
Something that drives me a little nuts is when I see an ultra expensive car that has a couple of years of brake dust caked to wheels. Some people will spend $100,000+ on a car but won’t bother to spend $10 to get it washed.
I’m a little twisted, when I see a next to new luxury car with a big key mark scratched down the whole passenger side of super expensive car…I start giggling. Guess I’m a little envious not having $4000/month car payments.
I’m curious about how often you see luxury cars that have been vandalized. It certainly wouldn’t make me chuckle… It would make me think someone needs a horsewhipping.
I do admit that I chuckle, though, then the guy at the gas pump can’t get his Ferrari to start.
Funny you mention gas pumps. I was at a gas station pumping up once and a guy came up to me asking for $5 cuz he didn’t have gas money…didn’t give him money, but others were handing him money. The guy was driving a new Mercedes. The guy had no pride and knew that many people are chumps and he picked up a pocket full of money for just a few minutes ‘begging’. He probably pulls same stunt every time he pulls into a gas station.
Said it was a little twisted…little envy. Kinda like boss walking down hall acting superior and like a boss with a length of toilet paper still dragging from rear of his suit.
