<p>Except that this Christmas is a tiny bit sad. This is the first time my son will not be home for Christmas. He has a job that requires him to work tonight. The pay makes it worthwhile, but…</p>
<p>It brings to mind those sons and daughters and fathers and wives in the military and away tonight. May they ALL come home safely.</p>
<p>Awwwwwwww, dig, I’m sorry that your son isn’t home with you tonight. It’s hard, isn’t it? Will he be with your family tomorrow? I hope so…</p>

<p>This Thanksgiving was our first without our oldest (son) at home with us.
He spent the day with his girlfriend’s family a few hours away and then joined us on saturday before returning to school on Sunday. The inevitable process of sharing your children with the rest of the world!</p>
<p>My thoughts are also with all those families missing their loved ones in much more significant circumstances.</p>

<p>FYI, my mom loved her personalized Eagles jersey. I also got her a set of eagles grill utensils (I have no clue what they are called… the stuff you use when you grill outside… haha), one of those aromatherapy heat wrap things that you warm in the microwave, two sets of Corvelle plates/bowls/cups for the Kitchen, a pack of computer paper as well as a Phillies key (it’s the same as our house key but is red and has the phillies logo all over it, hopefully she can find a place to cut it for her… she’s constantly flipping through her key ring trying to find her house key, at least now it will stick out in its bright-red-ness) and some candy in her stocking.</p>
<p>She seemed really suprised that I got her so much but she loved everything… I really spent a lot of $$ this year but it was well worth it :)</p>
<p>I wound up getting my dad a seat-massage-cushion-thingy, a digital temperature guage, K-Pax dvd, flash lights, and a case of oil. (He got a kick out of the case of oil.)</p>
<p>I got my sister the two Post Secret books, Napoleon Dynamite socks, Shoe laces (which she loved and are ALREADY in her shoes), and a Dickies purse.</p>
<p>Highlight of the morning? My 8 year old cousin waking everybody up at 5 AM screaming that Santa brought her a bike. She then proceeded to open all of her other presents while we watched her… everyones still a bit tired :)</p>

I’m so glad that your mom enjoyed all of your well-thought out gifts! Like you, I truly enjoy seeing everyone’s reaction to their gifts! I’ve seen those aromatherapy heat wrap thingies in the mall…they’re COOL!!! That would majorly appeal to me too!</p>
<p>Your little cousin must have been <em>SO</em> adorable opening her gifts! My youngest is 8, and it really is a magical, sweet age. I’m glad that Santa made her wishes come true!</p>
