Best introductory book for LaTex

Hi everyone,

Any ideas on the best introductory books for LaTex (the typesetting program)?

My mathematics thesis is to be typed with LaTex. I need a readable text with good quality examples and enough detail for a maths thesis. A text I can read from cover to cover.

I am completely new to LaTex.

Thank you in anticipation.

LaTeX is insanely easy to learn. I use these two websites as references:

[Latex Math Symbols](http://web.ift.uib.no/Fysisk/Teori/KURS/WRK/TeX/symALL.html) for quick symbol references and [LaTeX Tutorial](http://frodo.elon.edu/tutorial/tutorial/) is where I learned some of the more nitty-gritty stuff like adding images and references.

I have to mention one thing that I do not believe is mentioned in either text, but if you don’t like the way LaTeX is formatting your equations, try adding \displaystyle to the start of your equations to make them look less compact vertically.

Hi **gthopeful, **

Thanks. However, I need LaTex books (so I could carry them around)

I’ve skimmed ‘Guide to Latex’ by Daly and Kopka. Good book, but doesn’t look beginner-friendly. I’ve also ordered for ‘LaTex:Line by Line’ by Antoni Diller. Hope it will be good enough for my maths thesis.

Any ideas on other excellent beginner-friendly yet detailed books on Latex?
