Best laptop backpack for a short girl?

I suppose I can get one of those laptop sleeves if necessary, but I’d really like a backpack where my laptop would stay safe.

I’m about 5’1" and I’m starting college this fall. I’m most likely getting a 13" macbook or possibly just using my 14" dell (loll it’s a Studio which they stopped making… don’t know what that says about the computer). Either way though, the size of the laptop won’t be an issue.

I have no idea how many textbooks I will actually need to carry, but I have 3 classes 3 days a week and 2 classes the other days (I never have any loaded days with 5 classes or anything like that, so no INSANE amount of things in my backpack).

I’ve been asking some people from my school, but considering we’re all pre-frosh, no one really has a ton of input :P.

I’ve never had a class that required me to bring my textbook (except maybe on exam days for the rare open book tests). My backpack is this one: [JanSport Air Cure Laptop Backpack - eBags.com](http://www.ebags.com/product/jansport/air-cure/75056?productid=1341553&sourceID=GOOGFEED&couponid=40959822&CAWELAID=350105296) . It’s out of production now (I bought it 5 years ago), but it has the nice gel straps and a padded sleeve built in.

Lots of other companies make laptop backpacks (I believe Wenger is notable), but Jansport always gets my vote:

Their full laptop backpack line is here: [JanSport - Product Results for JanSport Backpacks](http://jansport.com/js_product_thumb.php?cid=41)

Considering your short stature, I’d avoid any sort of outdoors based packs (daypacks) or anything with more than 2 main compartments. Short people with backpacks that have a million zippers and puff out a foot off their back always look weird.

Take a look at the Dakine backpacks for women. They all have a relatively small capacity, but they seem to hold a lot. I have a 15 plus inch laptop, and the Dakine Zuri is the only women’s Dakine backpack thtat fis it. It has a capacity of 1500 cubic inches and holds the laptop, cords, wallet, phone, a textbook and several notebooks. it is attractive and well made. Your laptop might fit in the Eve or the Prom Pack which have slighly more capacity.

Why is your height even a factor in this? I’m also 5’ 1" and have never chosen backpacks of all things with that on my mind…

Personal experience says that it doesn’t really matter if your backpack has a laptop sleeve – the rate of damage isn’t really affected.

If it fits in the backpack, it’s good to go. Now, choose a style you like in a color you like…
