Best lip balm

I recently burned my lips! As I am recovering, I’m looking for a great lip balm. I know I will also need something as winter is approaching. The thing I don’t want is a petroleum product. Anyone have a go to product they can’t live without?

I like all the Burt’s Bees lip balms. “Honey” might be best for soothing burned lips.

Chop Saver. It is actually for brass players, but it is terrific.

Calendula cream is good for healing, but I just use any old thing.

Carmex is used by athletes in winter sports and has was the only thing that worked for me after long days in ice rinks!

I like Carmex too but it has petroleum.

I have two favorites. Burt’s Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter, about $4. Dr Hauschka Lip Care Stick, about $15. If I had to pick one I’d say Dr Hauschka’s is my favorite.

I’ve been using Chapstick since I was 15, and nothing else. I have a tube in my purse, the car, my nightstand drawer, my desk drawer at work, the desk upon which this computer sits (excuse me a second…), and on my side table in the family room. I have spares in my purse, at work, and several in the nightstand.

I used to know a guy who was similarly addicted. He was sent on business to Venezuela for 2 weeks, and didn’t take a spare with him. The first day there, he dropped his tube down a drain on the street and was unable to find a replacement at any store he checked. Two weeks without Chapstick!

I’ve liked Burt’s Bees but my kids say it burned so it might not be the best for burned lips. I received a l’occitane Shea lip balm and it is really nice. I also have a fresh sugar lip balm and oh my it is so soft and so nice. It’s expensive though, I received it as a gift.

When I was younger I wore Bonnie Bell lipsmakers, did anyone else have these in tons of flavors? I remember things like root beer float and strawberry.

Cocoa Butter. It’s not thick and pasty feeling like some lip balms. You can buy it in a stick just like other lip balms. I buy it at Walgreens. It feels great on your lips and smells good. too.

Neutrogena Lip Moisturizer. I buy it on Amazon in multiples, because it can be hard to find in drugstores. I have a stash at home at all times. It also has 15 SPF.

I use Sally Hansen lip treatments.
I used to love the pots of lip gloss, I think Bonne Bell & Yardley made them.
Ive used Dr Hauschka, but I often misplace the balm so I generally stick to one that arent more than $4, like kissmyface.

I use a lot of shea butter.

I like the Burt’s Bees grapefruit balm . Around $3 a tube, but places like Target sell it in 2 packs for a little less. Perfect blend of not too fruity, not too medicine tasting, and nice and smooth.

I like Softlips in vanilla, but I’m not sure if it’s petroleum based or not

I like Burts Bees too. There are different kinds, and not all of them have the “burn”. This one is good: [Burt's Bees Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter Ulta.com - Cosmetics, Fragrance, Salon and Beauty Gifts](http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2450089)

Carmax is the ONLY thing that works for me. I cannot wear lipstick at all , no matter what anyone claims is allergy free or moisturizing. I swear by Carmax for sun protection, cold protection and just winter chapping.

Dr. Dan’s lip balm is fantastic for healing. Though it might contain petroleum

I also recommend Neutrogena lip moisturizer. It can sometimes be hard to find, but I bought my last one at Ulta Cosmetic store.

Thanks so much for the great replies. I will try the recommendations. I have been using Carmex ( cherry) and I do like it…I have just heard the dangers of petroleum products ( but I have probably done a lot of other things that are worse for my body).

I have also used Palmers Shea Butter ( looks like you’re putting a glue stick on your lips…haha) but it has not been as protective as the Carmex for my burned lips.

My lips are healing ( chemical burn caused by my dentist!). Now I am looking for something for the long term as my lips just aren’t as soft and moist as they used to be.

My husband was addicted to Chapstick so I am very wary…he was able to wean himself using the Palmers Cocoa Butter.

I don’t usually wear make up, but I like MAC. They have a conditioner and they have a conditioner and they had a balm.

I don’t think they make the balm anymore.
