i’m looking for a mid-sized college (i’m thinking roughly between 8,000-18,000) with a strong engineering program. preferably a university instead of a tech school, i’m really put off by the guy:girl ratio at some of those. what schools would you recommend to me?

Depending on your stats… Northwestern and Cornell. Both are really competitive, but they both have great programs.

in a ‘chances’ thread i made, people were split between saying cornell was either a match or a reach; just to give you an idea of where i am
2080 SAT I; 2150 SAT II, very rigorous schedule, top 5% out of 275, [i think] very good EC’s, etc.

CMU (reachy) male/female ~55/45
BU (matchy) male/female ~40/60

both universities

Perhaps Lehigh.

Northeastern University

thanks for the recommendations guys. any more?

Best mid-sized, non-tech engineering university is undoubtedly Stanford. I don’t think that’s a close call.

Of course, getting admitted is no walk in the park.

Villanova is a little smaller than 8,000, but pretty close. Maybe, 7200 undergrad now. They have a pretty good engineering school. :)

Vanderbilt
