Canadian college student here and required to take the SAts as a prerequisite for application to Columbia University. I have very little experience with the entire thing (hence the noob question) so I was wondering if someone knew of a good book to pick up at the local bookstore which thoroughly prepares someone.

definitely start off with the “blue book,” which is the college board’s publication The Official SAT Study Guide For The New SAT. it’s the only printed source of real SAT questions.

Grammatix Study Guide is awesome for strategies, especially for CR and Writing. For math it’s good too since you can contact the owner for direct help for any problem (Math, CR, and writing). The blue book is awesome for pratice questions. You can find the first through google and the second through tokenadult’s links.

Undisclosed, there are a number of free SAT prep Web sites (google them) and numerous books you can buy or borrow from libraries, but at one point or another you will want the book mentioned above that includes actual questions so you can start to appreciate the style of questions asked.
