Many AP classes and plan to take all ap exams whether I m in that class or not
EC’s tutoring at home for free, many internships, also enrolled in a internship GT class at a career center away from my school. Hose and FBLA( ran for office but ppl who were officers last yr continued this yr<< teacher doesn’t like new officers), but not an active member. Community emergency volunteering; about 100 community service hours or maybe more if my internship hours count.
I always wanted to go to the best university. But I just started lowering my gpa because of house probs and my ADD. ADD also influenced my test scores.
I also have no one helping me for college. Being the first in family to go to college in us, I have not enough info about applying. I can’t drive either to drive to counselors and know more. So making a choice is really hard when u don’t have family help or Any friends. So it’s also get hard to decide how much I would be able to pay when I want to make the least loans possible.
So which of the best ny university would accept me? The one that is close to being a prestigious one in new York? Something like UT at Austin, Texas A&M or Baylor, maybe RICE too? Oh yes, I am a Texas resident?

Do you mean NY State or NY City?

The only loans that you will be eligible to take in your name without a co-signer are equal to $5500 for freshman year, $6500 for sophomore year, and $7500 for each of junior and senior year. Depending on family income/ EFC you may also qualify for a Perkins Loan of a small amount (these are not guaranteed), Pell Grant (of up to $5500 – this does not need to be paid back), some universities may also consider you for institutional grants and/ or loans…but this also depends. You may qualify for state loans or grants depending on family income, but most state aid programs require them to be used in state.

Your GPA and test scores may qualify you for admission to many schools in NY, but if finances are an issue you may not be in a position to afford those schools.

Why are you looking at NY? It is most likely that schools in Texas will be most affordable to you and your family. Private and Public Schools Out of State will likely be more expensive unless you can find schools where you will qualify for significant merit aid for your academic stats.

There is so much information on this forum… particularly on the Financial Aid Forum, as well as many knowledgeable posters who will be able to offer lots of information and advice.

Good luck! :)
