Today marks 3 years since my grandfather (mom’s dad) passed away. My mom misses her dad a LOT and this tends to be a hard day for her. Since I can’t be with her (and today is payday), I’d really like to send her flowers or cookies or something. I don’t have a lot of money…just something nice.

How about a special poem or bible verse that means alot to your family or your grandfather? Or just a letter sharing some special memories of him- funny, heartwarming or otherwise. Or an Hallmark e-card? (you can join for a year for $9.99 and get your money’s worth all year long!)

1800flowers is pretty good. They do so much business their pricing tend to be more competitive. It will still be 40+, after you add in delivery and tax. You may be able to do it for less if you were to call up a local flower shop. Nice of you to be so thoughtful. Maybe a nice email to let your mom know that you are thinking of her.

I would try a local florist. I have one that I use when I send my mom flowers. I am in their computer system, so all I have to do is call, and they know what I like to send her. She is in a nursing home, so the space she has in her room is limited. They understand, and suggest things that are small. I usually send her flowers for Christmas, Mother’s Day, Birthday, and maybe one or two other occasions throughout the year. It is usually about $40.00 including delivery. I usually order so as to have them ship the freshest flowers that they have. It works for me.

I have used 1-800-flowers many times and always been fine with them. However, it is usually significantly cheaper to use Google Maps to find the closest florist to the person you are sending flowers to, then call them directly. Once or twice when I’ve done that, they’ve known what else got sent to the person and were then able to complement the flowers they’d already sent.

If you want to send fruit, Harry and David send absolutely beautiful fruit at enormous expense. But it does arrive in perfect condition.

Do you have a good friend or relative who lives near your Mom. You could ask them to pick up flowers or a nice plant and drop it on your Mom’s porch.
Though as a Mom I would just love to hear your voice. That is the greatest gift you can give her. That you are thinking about her.

We’ve used ProFlowers with a promotional coupon and the flowers were absolutely gorgeous and reasonable. I also second anything from Harry & David! Everything we’ve had from there has been very high quality and delicious.

Very nice of you.
I have had good luck with ProFlowers too. There are a lot of ProFlowers discounts available, on line, in the Entertainment Book, etc.
