For BSN to NP? Or for direct entry second degree RN programs?
I don’t think this matters - prestige, I mean. There’s such a shortage of nurses and nursing is not a prestige-focused field, so if you are an already practicing RN and just want to get your BSN, I’d choose whatever university is most easily accessible to you and costs a reasonable amount. That’s probably a public university in your state.
Do note that online MSN programs are really only for RNs who already have a bachelor’s degree. If you’re doing a direct entry to practice MSN program, those are almost always in-person - because you’ll need to do labs and clinicals.
There are hybrid learning MSN RN programs.
While prestige itself does not totally matter, many hospitals are moving away from hiring NPs who get their degreees from for profit online only programs.
