What’s the best associates degree to have?
Anything medical related, but only if healthcare interests you . Healthcare is not for everyone .
Thanks does plumbing make good money?
Not great money, but you’ll be able to pay the bills as a plumber.
I don’t know of an associated degree in plumbing. Plumbers and electricians do get pretty good money once they have graduated from their internship and have experience.
I don’t know what state you live in, but my state has a lot to programs at community colleges focusing on advanced manufacturing , many of which offer jobs after graduation
im in texas
i want to do something in forensics do anything in criminal justice pertain to this?
Good idea to go see your local community college to see what majors are offered. Ask them about the Criminal Justice and forensics.
I agree with @Erin’s Dad and that’s an interesting choice for an associate degree by the way
Look at the market in your area to see how many jobs are available. My nephew has a four year degree in the forensics field, and has never worked in the field. Where he lives, there is not a lot of job turnover and jobs are scarce.
According to surveys by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (in or about 2014, http://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes_nat.htm#00-0000 and http://www.allnursingschools.com/nursing-careers/licensed-practical-nurse/salary/):
Persons working as electrical/electronics technicians, web developers, registered nurses and diagnostic medical sonographers average more than $60,000 per year. According to the BLS, an AA degree in the field is adequate for entry into the first two of these; registered nurses need to pass an exam to get licensed after their AA; and sonographers may need “professional certification” in addition to an AA degree. Austin Community College offers AA degrees suitable for each of these (http://www.austincc.edu/degrees-and-certificates/explore-educational-choices/all-credit-degrees-and-certificates).
Police officers average nearly $60,000/year. They only need a high school diploma. It appears that they are often paid while they undergo training.
Plumbers, pipefitters, and steamfitters average $54,620/year; physical therapist assistants average $54,330/year.
Firemen, paramedics, auto repairers, vocational nurses, correctional officers/jailers and heating/air conditioning/refrigeration mechanics/installers average under $50,000/year.
