It depends on what you need…
Definitely get unlimited texting, and most people wan’t/need unlimited data as well.
i didn’t get a smartphone since the data that comes with it is very expensive (like 90 dollars a month?) so just got a regular phone…depends on how often you text, maybe 1000 txts a month would be enough. It all depends on how much of what you really use.
Ok. I would wish for unlimited data. maybe around 100 texts and 100 minutes? Any suggestions?
I text a lot. I think it’s the most common form of communication between people.
I only pay $25 a month and I have unlimited texting/data and 300 minutes a month. I’ve got Virgin Mobile. In my opinion, it’s one of the best plans available for students because it’s pre-paid and it’s not expensive.
It really depends on where you live though. If you’re going to a university out in the middle of nowhere, you might be stuck to just one provider. If you’re in the city, you might have tons of options. And it depends on what you need. If you’re going to talk a lot, then unlimited minutes is obviously more important.
As I said, get unlimited texting. And you’ll probably want more than 100 minutes as well.
The plan AUGirl has is a great option. I’ve thought about switching to that myself. The only real thing stopping me is that Verizon has the best coverage on my campus (like, it’s 2-3x better than any other provider).
I will be staying around Purdue. Postcode : 47906.
Which plan is that specifically? AUGirl. I feel like getting yours!
Or if your campus is wireless, get an iPod touch instead. On campus it’s almost a necessity to have instant access to your email since I’ve found that professors email you constantly and texting is the best way to contact other students. I used the Google Voice app which has free texting and you can get your own phone number. Also linked to your computer/Google account so if you’re Gchat you can make phone calls from your computer.
Ok if you don’t want the best phones (Iphone 5, Samsung Galaxy 3, etc.) then get the Virgin Mobile plan. I got a smartphone and my mom only pay about $35 per month for unlimited data, text and minute. There is no 2 year contract unlike my previous more expensive T-mobile. Because Virgin is a “third party” phone service you won’t get the best of the best phone. But I have the LG Optimus Elite and it is compact and powerful. My only complaint is the storage spaces available after you download a lot of apps.
Guys, I had decided to go with a prepaid plan first. Any recommendations?
