The place below BK is called Kiva and it’s a hot/cold gourmet sandwich and salad bar kind of place. They’ve had tabouleh and hummus for sale a la carte as well as standards like cole slaw, potato salad, etc (I think it was) the couple of times I’ve been there. A whole sandwich is about $5-6 and half is… I’m thinking around $4. It’s not the cheapest option, but the ingredients are high quality and tasty. Red peppers, pesto, feta cheese, ciabatta bread-- delish!

If you want the option to cook for yourself, the on-campus apartments at Mason Hall (next to Willkie) have kitchens and cost significantly less than a dorm room and exempts you from buying a meal plan. You might even be able to get away with having a dog. I’m wondering if I could keep a pet here unnoticed as long as my roommates didn’t report me. I’m not sure what happens in the dorms, but here there is a Floor Pres. and arbitrarily checking up on us doesn’t seem to be one of his responsibilities.
