Best practices for talking to admission counselor

My son has been accepted by a strong public business program but will receive no financial aid. This school is his first choice. He has also been accepted at similar private schools and been granted numerous scholarships. We will soon be having an in person meeting with the public school admission counselor. Any advice on what we should be asking to unlock any potential scholarship money?

It is generally difficult to negotiate scholarships at a public school. Many times the scholarship folks are separate from the admissions and financial aid folks. Sometimes departments have scholarships - you may want to approach them. It doesn’t hurt to ask if there is anything, but don’t bet on it.

P.S. I like chocolate … not saying it would make me give a student a scholarship, but it would make me more pleasant to deal with as you ask. :wink:

@kelsmom - Great advice! :D
