North Carolina:

I completely agree with this.

Michigan tiers.

1-Michigan, Michigan State, - great nationally renown.
2 - Michigan Tech, Grand Valley State, U of M d-BO,- your potential employer may have heard of them, respected in state.
3- Western mich, Central mich- Respect in state.
4- Oakland, Wayne, Eastern mich, U of M Flint, Northern mich. - Mixed feelings in state

^I would put Eastern Mich into tier 3, otherwise, accurate list

Yeah Eastern should probably be tier 3 but I am biased towards them =P.

You guys are way underestimating Wayne State!! Instate it has many graduates. Very successful ones I might add as well.

^^ I agree. Wayne State is on the rise in the state of Michigan. It has a highly ranked medical and nursing program.

Wayne State has the second-largest international student population in the state after University of Michigan.

^^^Also social work. It is one of the three major public research universities in the state.

New York:

Tier 1:
SUNY-Binghamton
SUNY-Geneseo

Tier 2:
SUNY-Buffalo
SUNY-Stony Brook
SUNY- New Paltz

Forgot about New Paltz

Texas

Tier 1:
Texas
Texas A&M

Tier 2:
Houston
Texas Tech
UT Dallas

Tier 3:
Texas State

UT Arlington

If we rank by tiers, here’s Missouri:

Tier 1:

Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou)
Missouri S&T

Tier 2:
UMKC

SEMO

Tier 3:
UMSL

For Washington, remove Washington State

All of the UC’s except Merced are all ranked in the top 100 in US News rankings. I would say that the UC system is the best public university system in the world.

^I disagree. Virginia has the best.

Nope, I’m with Proteinman. I think the UC’s are truly outstanding.

^
I am skeptical. What kind of list ranks Claremont McKenna College, Loyola Marymount University, and Occidental College all higher than UC Berkeley? No way.

I can see Claremont McKenna above UC-Berkeley but not Loyola Marymount or Occidental

Florida: Univ. of Florida, Univ. of Miami Florida State, Univ. of South FL

For Massachusetts, I’d rank them:

UMass Amherst
Mass Art

Gap

UMass Dartmouth/UMass Lowell (tie)
Bridgewater State/UMass Boston (tie)

Big Gap

Salem State, Framingham State, Fitchburg State

Then all the rest.

UMass Amherst stands head and shoulders above the rest.
