Best SAT study guide

I’ve noticed alot of people mentioning the Blue Book for its practice tests. However which book is the best in advice for strategy guides. I need a book that concentrates on the Critical Reading section more. Anybody know a good book?

Grammatix is a very good book. I think you can find a PDF of it if you google “The complete SAT and PSAT Strategy Guide”

Thanks, I also hear that the RocketReview Revolution is also good. Can you back this up?

There’s not a lot of strategy going on in reading…, but there are some you can adhere to,

I found this fairly helpful, but on the whole, to improve on CR, you need practice and master the vocabs. You can get the official online course (ur school might have it purchased, ask your counselor), and print out the materials, there’s a total of 10 official tests beside the BB.
Good luck

I can’t stand to correct one’s grammar mistakes!

^
to use should be using
i should be capitalized
There should be a question mark after guides

Suleyman, leave the thread if you don’t have anything useful to offer.

Boomshakalaka: Well vocab isn’t too big of a problem for me, but it’s the short passages that you normally answer questions 8-12 on. I end up missing about 8 points because of those. The big passages I am not too worried about tbh.

right!

I have something useful to offer–correcting one’s grammar mistakes.

I can write with perfect grammar if I desire. Clearly I don’t want to, so go find someone else to bother :)

I have something to offer!

I boosted my writing score from a 580 to a 700 with the help of Kaplan Writing Workbook and Baron Writing Workbook. However, Sparknotes’ FREE guide is just as helpful, it just doesn’t have the same number of practice questions. Another note pretty much anything not made my the college board is going to have inaccurate questions, so make each and everyone of the BB questions count!

edit:
I forgot to mention all the really amazing guides on CC, which are all linked in a sticky thread.

Blob:
Man, as much as I admire your score increase, I have trouble believing you achieved it with a Kaplan workbook. I have the Kaplan 12 tests, I had a average of about 670 on the writing, when I got to the actual test, I scored a 590.

Kaplan is much easier than the real thing. For good practice, use blue book and the official online sat course and take it under real testing condition (4 hrs).

Kaplan Writing WB and Barrons Writing WB offer all the common writing mistakes the SAT tests you on, but their questions are crappy. Now I understand all the mistakes, and the only errors I make are silly, which just takes a buttload of practice to overcome.

Well Blob, I bid you good luck in the future.
Boom: I’m going to buy the blue book. It’s just a shame to know that I spent about 40 hours doing Kaplan tests and still get such a low score (1820)

I know that “Kaplan SAT 12 Practice Tests” is a godo book, but I want to know if Kaplan SAT prep book (not WB) is good as other prep books. Is it good?

I know for a fact that the 12 practice tests are AWFUL! But not sure about the prep book.
