Best SatIIs to take?

Hey so I was wondering what Satiis to focus on taking. I’m taking the following AP classes soph/junior year (soph right now): WHAP, Bio, Physics I, APUSH, Chem, Calc BC, and Lang.

Anyways which ones look best for colleges? And which ones are the easiest but still look good? I haven’t decided my major yet but probably in business or something in science, if that’s a factor. Thanks Guys!

Math II isn’t too bad to get 800 on, I hear.

For a science major, then definitely take biology or physics. If you’re good at them.

Math2 is basically the best choice for most schools particularly for Science and Engineering. Stanford encourage that too even SAT2 is not required there. 15% of students received 800 in Math2. If you are going to STEM, you should do at least one more in science. That should be sufficient for most schools as only 2 SAT2 are required. However, certain programs may have additional requirements. For instance, Northwestern would like to see Math2, and 2 sciences for integrated science program. Other schools may want to see SAT2 scores from different core field. So you should look at individual program (not school) requirement closely to decide. Since you are only in sophomore year, you have plenty of time to fulfill any requirement. I would suggest you to take ~2 subjects this year and another 2 or so next year. Just pick those you are better prepared such as those you are taking AP classes. The best time to take SAT2 is in early June right after the AP exams. Again, two SAT2 is pretty much sufficient for most schools. Taking 2 or more tests at the same time is more cost-efficient.

Thanks guys! MathII sounds like a pretty good option. Should I bother doing a Social Studies SatII? Or should I stick with math and the sciences?

Again, that would depend on your intended major and the programs/schools you are going to apply.

I think colleges like to see well-roundedness in your academics and focus in your ECs. In one of my college visits, the adcom said that we accept students who can be successful at ANY major that our school offers. You have to remember that for privates, you usually don’t declare an area to study in (only engineering and some special programs require certain subjects). For most privates, you are essentially undeclared until your sophomore year. I just said all that to encourage you to also take the US history subject test along with a science and a math. This way, you can make yourself look much more academically well-rounded in the eyes of the admission’s office. Hope that helped and best of luck with the rest of your high school career.

Most important, look up the requirement of specific programs and specific schools.
