Best Scholarships for Undergraduate Student

I will be entering my sophomore year at University this fall and I wanted to know where I should look to find scholarships to pay for my term. I graduated high school with a couple outside scholarships, unfortunately, they were not renewable. This year, my financial aid package only contains loans and a state scholarship (given to those that maintain at least 3.0 GPA) since I am considered middle class. Yes, I do have a job but it is not enough to help my parents. What should if do?

Contact your school. Some colleges have departmental scholarships for returning students…but you may have missed the deadlines to apply for these.

^ This is about the only recommendation I would give as well. And I’d like to bookmark this thread for HS students who think they can use outside scholarships to make a college affordable.

There aren’t many extra scholarships awarded for students who are already in college except

  1. external scholarship
  2. departmental scholarship

What do you mean you have a job but it’s not enough to help your parents? You give your parents your earnings?

Are you a U.S. citizen?

Madison85 I use my earning to pay for some college expenses

Others reading this thread take note. … If you get “one time” scholarships and those are what will make ONLY the first year affordable, then likely you’re picking the wrong school…and you may have to leave after one year.

College is a four year process. Have the finances figured out for all four years.

@giraffelover How much does your school cost (include breakdown) ? how much is your aid? How much will your parents pay?

Do you work during the school year?

Are you at UGA or Georgia State?

Did you qualify for HOPE?

@mom2collegekids I am at UGA, qualify for hope, and have a job during the school year.

What about during the summer? Are you earning/saving now??? If you work full time in the summer, you could earn about $3k or more.

how much will your parents pay each year?
