PSAT 189 (10th Grade)
SAT ???

Note: Some courses were changed in 10th grade b/c I transferred to prep school
1st column of grades is for 1st semester, the 2nd is for 2nd semester

Extracurriculars: NHS 1 1/2 years, 80 service hours (projected)
Majors: Computer Science and/or Pharmacy

I’d love to get into Ivies but I don’t think I can. I never went to a contest before in my whole life, and those Ivy people get gold medals at Olympiads and stuff. But what do you guys think?

Give me a hint or send me a PM telling me what prep school you go to- I assume in Dallas??? Or do you board?

Really would help to know SAT and what your geographic preference would be. Do either Rice or UT interest you? What about Lafayette, Lehigh or Colgate?

I go to John Paul II High School in Plano, TX. I don’t live in the school.
I know nothing about Rice, except that it’s one of the best in Texas. So is UT Austin, which interests me because I have a feeling that a public school is easier to get into. But right now, I’d like to go to Massachusetts or NYC. Texas bores me.

^ I know I’m light on ECs. It’s not really surprising for me b/c I hate activities. I mostly spend my free time in front of my PC and read tech news. I love messing with computers and thought MIT would be a good choice until I see MIT applicants’ stats… +_+

Oh, and even though I’ve not taken SAT yet, I expect a 2100 or more.
Btw, the 1 1/2 NHS year is what I expect since I can only join them starting next spring. Also, I’m in top 10 of the school.

I looked up and didn’t see a Pharmacy school. Wikipedia says that Tufts is just as selective as Cornell ^_^. Do you think of Tufts as a a match, reach or high reach?
Thanks you so much guys. Keep it up and I’ll chance you guys back (if you need to chance, that is).
I just thought about California and I think it’s nice as well… Just that the UC schools are just as selective as the Ivies, even more so for OOS.

I don’t know about Tufts because my daughter did not apply there. But I think in the US News Rankings, it ranks a lot lower than Cornell. Hence, I think it is slightly less selective than Cornell.

In what capacity are you interested in pharmacy? If you want to be in a service area (eg practicing pharmacist) then you would be interested in a pharm d program, which many students are doing as a post graduate (after college) degree.
[Professional Pharmacy (Pharm D.) Program Admission FAQ - University of the Pacific](http://web.pacific.edu/x20188.xml)
If however, you are looking to merge your interests of pharmacology (science of pharmacy) with computer technology and pursue bioinformatics or biostatistics, then the program strengths that you would be interested would be quite different.

Thanks, guys. belevitt, you are going too far into the future ^^. I’m only looking at the best, most prestigious college that fits my profile and offer a school of Pharmacy. I’m planning on doing double major with both CS and Pharmacy but if not possible then I’ll go Pharmacy only (and PharmD, yes).
So you think I can go to Tufts with only 2 ECs. Also Northeastern and UT Austin. Which of those 3 is the best? Based on rankings, Tufts seem to top the other two but I’m afraid I’ll get rejected… Is it a “reach” or a “match” ?
I need some financial aid too… forgot to mention that. Financial aid for international students.
