<p>I’m definitely going to major in engineering – narrowed to Chemical or one of the Computer-based ones. However, I also intend to at the very least minor in Music Composition. Since picking up the violin in 5th grade, I have taught myself music theory and by now (11th grade) have composed several serious works, about one a semester. I want composition to be something like a hobby I am really good at.
I was wondering if any of you had any input of colleges I should look into. Vanderbilt, Duke, and Stanford are the main the main three I am going to apply to. The important thing is that I will not go anywhere where the weather is miserable half the year (I won’t sacrifice golf), so I’m not even going to apply to the Ivy Leagues or MIT; even if I got in I would hardly want to move there. The only exception is Northwestern, which I have legacy from both parents.
A have the grades / course rigor / test scores / developed ECs that make my lottery ticket to schools like Stanford actually have worth. Are there any other colleges I should take a look at? Thanks.</p>

<p>If you wanted to major in engineering and music I believe Northwestern is the one university that has a program where you can major in both. </p>

<p>Personally, knowing all the legacies I do, I would say - if you have a double legacy card at NU, play it in ED. </p>
