I’m from New England and want to attend an Ivy League university. I currently finished one semester at Nashua Community College and do want to get an associates degree before I go for an Ivy. I want to find a fairly selective 4 year school with 2 year degrees to transfer out of that would potentially have a better impression than a Community College. Anyone have any ideas? One I’m considering is the New England College of Business and Finance. I’m currently a Liberal Arts major but will likely pursue something Business-Oriented.

if you want to go to an ivy then realize that one of the top feeder schools is exeter

if you want to give advice, realize that exeter is a prep school. op is already in cc.

Thanks Castiel for the effort…And Doctor for the clarification. Any answers I could put to use though? Thanks.

i was joshing him for wanting to go to “an ivy league” and not a particular college, making me believe he just wants name recognition.

there is no such thing as “a fairly selective 4 year school with 2 year degrees”

if you want to go ivy, apply straight from cc. it is not uncommon for cc transfers to be admitted at any one of the ivies; they do not discriminate on those grounds. further, since your ideal transition school does not exist, I would recommend that you either just stay at nashua or transfer to a good four year school with the possibility of (potentially) transferring out (credits will generally transfer anyway); transferring for the purpose of transferring again is unreasonable. that is all.

Thanks for the response. I was considering just transferring to a year and going from there but my father recommended I get an associates complete first which seemed like a good idea since halfway through my bachelors I’d have an associates. There are some schools out there that are private 4 year schools but offer 2 year degrees like St. Vincent in Connecticut though. Probably not too well known but they have around a 65% acceptance rate I read. Something ideal to transfer out of. I know it has and can be done to transfer out of a CC. I was just thinking of something more lucrative that would stand out.

I would suggest deepspring but that’s a all male 2 year college, an elite school. Most of the graduates go to IVY schools after.

Wow, I never heard of that. Upon looking on wikipedia it’s one of the most selective colleges in the States too. With 100-200 applicants per year with like 10-26 selected. Interesting. Do you know anything about the college Lesley, or was this your own generous research? They combine labor and academics together here. Do you know what would have a student stand out here?

deep springs is intense. i’ve heard that maturity is essential (of how they measure this i am unsure) because of the collaborative and cooperative environment, but that test scores of successful applicants are also rather high. then again, i don’t know anybody who has been directly involved, just friends of friends, so i really have no idea what i’m talking about. still, i’ve heard great things.
