Best Science and Technology Colleges...

I was wondering what the best science and tech/engineering colleges are. Of course there are those such as MIT and Georgia Tech, CalTech etc. But there are other colleges which are also good and I would like to know about them. I am looking to go into a major in biotech or astrophysics (very different, I know but more the former) and would like a college with many research facilities.

any merit-based scholarships they, or programs related to them offer

Caltech
MIT
Princeton
Stanford
UC-Berkeley
UCLA
University Of Michigan
University Of Texas

Cornell too

Harvey Mudd?

oh yeah definitely Harvey Mudd

NYU Poly?

In New York City…

I swear if you click on chicago78’s profile and you see “previous posts” all of them probably say “NYU Poly”

You want biotech or astrophysics? You want research? I think Michigan State University has to be on your list. MSU has one of the most productive faculty in terms of research in the nation. Also, MSU is one of the best in securing funding for research. If you add to this that MSU has a beautiful campus, great people, excellent faculty, top notch research facilities… there is no reason why MSU should not be considered.

Carnegie Mellon
University of Rochester
Case Western Reserve
Olin
Rose-Hulman

These are just a few places, not mentioned above, that also have good reps for S&T in general. I don’t know about the OP’s fields of interest in particular. Many top liberal arts colleges also have areas of strength in specific science, technology or engineering fields (Northwestern, Chicago, Johns Hopkins, and others). Swarthmore is a highly selective LAC that seems to be strong in science and engineering, with the benefit of belonging to a consortium.

Reed is among the best for grad school prep in biology and physics: [REED COLLEGE PHD PRODUCTIVITY](Doctoral Degree Productivity - Institutional Research - Reed College)

A masters-level research thesis is required of every senior (likely responsible for the above successes). Undergrads do all the research with/for profs (true at any LAC).

No merit aid at Reed, but 100% of need is guaranteed for four years.

^^agree with Case Western. They have many merit scholarships available (some are like $30k/yr, I believe).

I agree with Harvey Mudd 100%

your post #8 was so hilarious, I literally loled. haha and in fact, that is true.
