Best strategy for December SAT? 1960, aiming for 2100?

Hi all,

I’m an international student. I took the SAT in November and got 1960, CR: 740, M: 610 and WR: 620

It was my first time and I was pretty happy with it. That said I’m applying to some pretty prestigious places and am aiming for a minimum 2100, honestly not likely to ever get higher than 2200, ever.

I did every BB practice test and I’m wondering what my best strategy is now. Just take more?

I was thinking I need to bring up math by 100 points and also writing. I was averaging 750 in my writing so I have no idea what happened (normally get 10 in writing, got an 8).

I feel like practice tests are limited to how much they can do. I did the ACT before and got a 26, so this was quite a big jump upwards. How do you get from 1960 to 2100? What’s the best strategy?

Also, if I get a good score- do you think this will compensate for doing poorly in SAT Subject Tests?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Live an breathe SAT tests. Every Saturday morning at 8:30 (same time you will take it on the actual day) take a full length practice test. This will get you comfortable with taking the test. Spend Sunday reviewing the test, going over the questions you got wrong/didn’t understand. Make sure you truly understand why you got those questions wrong. Don’t lie to yourself. If you need help with some questions you can ask this SAT tutor questions (No charge!): pwnthesat.■■■■■■■■■■
(You should also buy his book. The math concepts in his book were the same concepts taught to me in an $1800 SAT class!)
Monday- Friday aim to finish 2.5 SAT tests. What I did was take the first 4 sections on Monday (no essay) then 5 sections on Tuesday. Try to do those sections timed and one after the other. After you check the answers make sure that you review you answers and understand what you go wrong, why you got it wrong and what strategy/ concept you need to work on.
Remember that it is okay to skip questions. You have a leniency room to skip 2 questions in each section. You don’t have to skip two questions in each section but if there is a question you really do not understand omit it.
I would also suggest to get the sat online course for more practice tests. Also the collegeboard website has free practice tests.

Good Luck! :D
