Best summer research

If the SIMONS summer program is prestigious for college admission why isn’t the Stony Brook State University it is linked to higher ranked? Seems like Stanford’s summer program would look much better on aps.

You have to realize that what makes a college good is the STUDENTS.

So for summer research, the Simons program, along with RSI and Clark Scholars, are some of the most competitive out there with acceptance rates of 15%, <5%, and 7% respectively. That means that the best students go to those programs, including future Stanford students. Good students mean a good program, and that’s what colleges look at on the apps. If a program had to reject 95% of other students just to accept YOU, then that’s telling them something On the other hand, the Stanford Summer Program isn’t even a research program - all you have to do is pay the $10K tuition and you’re in. So colleges will not be impressed.

And the last thing is… you don’t go to a summer program just because it looks good on college applications. You go because you enjoy it and are passionate about whatever topic you are studying in. Only after that does everything else fall in place. Good luck!
