Best Under-Eye Concealer?

Okay, I admit it. At 56, those dark circles under my eyes aren’t going away. My Cover Girl concealer isn’t doing the trick. I’d be willing to spring for more expensive stuff if it actually worked.

Any suggestions?

YSL Touche Eclat - expensive and worth it. Or start wearing glasses - the frames do wonders to cover circles!

I’d love some more suggestions too! Is the YSL one that has any moisturizer in it? That’s one I’m not familiar with.
My allergy-eyes are getting worse every year. I’ve tried Bobbi Brown concealer, Smashbox, and several drugstore brands. None have worked all that well. The smashbox probably has the best coverage but looks cakey.
I’ll be following this thread closely for all the great suggestions I’m sure will come.

I do not use makeup on a daily basis, but when I do, I use this:

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/chanel-correcteur-perfection-long-lasting-concealer/3023997</a></p>

Not the cheapest thing, but with my usage, it lasts for the full 6 month (you are supposed to toss all makeup that is older than that). Ask the ladies who work at the Chanel counter to show how to use this product correctly. The trick for me (as with any liquid makeup) is to spread it on the face and then press the skin with my hands for just a few seconds. This is what I learned from Tish’s book. There is lots of good advice on skin care in general in her book.

This isnt a concealer, but they say that… no joke, preparation H cuts down on the puffiness (as a vasoconstrictor)

I have researched this to death and tried everything. By far the best product I have come across is Camoufleur. Really wonderful coverage but doesn’t give you that heavy make-up look. If you purchase the correct shade for your skin tone you will be good to go. It has the benefit of being paraben free and they don’t test on animals. Amazon sells it for $25 but I recently found it on sale at Aiken Skin Care for $15. Once you find your shade, stock up, it is often sold out.

http://www.aikenskincare.us/shop-your-brand/aiken-skin-care/asc-pure-mineral-make-up/camoufleur-concealer</a></p>

I have awful under-eye circles and they worsen when my allergies are bad (like today)! I use Dermablend concealer in a tube. You just pat it on. It was created for people with scars. It’s great, but it blends fine with foundation. I get it at Dillards or Ulta.

The Dermablend is approx $20, but lasts me probably 6 months.

I’ll second YSL, Touche Eclat. It’s considered one of the gold standards in this category. It’s not just for people with dark circles, it’s great for anyone as an under eye brightener. A little thing, but it makes a difference!

Blepharoplasty. That’s what I’ll be going for. Not there yet, but am seriously considering it!

I have a couple of concealers I like. The one I tend to use under my eyes is:

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

<a href=“Creaseless Concealer | Tarte Cosmetics”>Creaseless Concealer | Tarte Cosmetics;

It also brightens/highlights a bit.I only use a tiny, tiny bit and pat it to blend.

The other concealer I use for some discoloration I have in a few spots is:

Hard Candy Glamoflauge Heavy Duty Concealer

http://www.hardcandy.com/beauty-face/hc-glam-concealer-light/?cat=concealer</a></p>

I have used it under my eyes under my foundation when I’ve needed some extra help. The Tarte concealer I put on at the very last over my foundation.

@college_query, Do you like the Glamoflauge tube or the pencil-looking one? Seems like a good one to keep in my purse and use for touch-ups.

Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer
Crazy expensive but truly amazing. A little bit goes a long way.
http://www.instyle.com/instyle/best-beauty-buys/product/0,,20360908_20356206,00.html</a></p>

I have had terrible under eye circles forever. The best concealer I’ve found is a Benefit product called Boi-ing Industrial Strength Concealer, carried by Sephora. About $20, amazing coverage, and one pot lasts many months.

Thanks so much, everyone!!!

I also like Cle de Peau. Another good option is Smashbox concealer - it comes in a squeeze tube and is more of a liquid rather than a thick cream, so it goes on light but still really covers. Honestly, I think it’s good to use a couple of different concealers to get the best results, layering a lighter color first, then touching up with one that matches your skin tone to blend the color and make sure the texture isn’t cake-y.

I start out with Smashbox, then add a little Cle de Peau on top. Another very good one - perfect shade for me anyway - is by Korres - it comes in a little pot and is not too thick or too thin. It matches my skin tone so well that on very casual days, I just use a little of it under my eyes and around my face to cover the random red spots.

@AllThisIsNewToMe - when I got it, it came with both the tube and the pencil. I use the pencil first, and depending on how much coverage I need, sometimes use the stuff in the tube over it. In a first for me, I had to go a shade darker than their lightest shade. The extra light was TOO light. Plain old regular “Light” is just right.

are any of these concealers hypoallergenic? have begun to have ultra sensitive/allergic reactions to all eye products, but really need the concealer too…

I have extremely sensitive skin around my eyes, and Smashbox and Cle de Peau are fine for me. You may want to try Korres products (made in Greece) - all natural and very gentle.
