What is, academically, prestige wise and reputation wise, the best university that is located in these states?

Emory by a long shot, followed by UGA. If you’re in-state, the HOPE scholarship would be a big plus.</p>

<p>Depending on where you live, Vandy may be closer than colleges in some of those states.</p>

University of Alabama, absolutely. You would get a generous merit scholarship there, and UAB is heavily involved and well known in science research.

Alabama ('Bama) =/= UAB</p>

<p>UAB is more than 90% in-state and not as generous with merit scholarships.</p>
