Best Value Business Program

I am a junior and an international student. My gpa is sadly pretty low around 3.1-3.3 and my SAT, which I took in December is 1830, but I took another one in January, which if I’m lucky I might get 2100 and up, and if not, hopefully 2000 and up. I am considering to apply to these colleges and I want to know what the schools are good at.

These are considered colleges (I’m guessing the reach, 50/50, safety):
University of Michigan (reach)
University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (50/50)
University of Wisconsin Madison (50/50)
University of Maryland College Park (50/50)
Penn State (safety)
Indiana University Bloomington (safety)
Rutgers New Brunswick (50/50)
Purdue (safety)

That is all I have in mind so far…and which would I have a good chance at being successful in the business department for long term goals and jobs? Also, which of these colleges are also strong with sports management or psychology/sociology that I can also attempt.

Can your family afford these schools?
Many do not give aid to international students.
Michigan is well over 50k a year for OOS.

Yes…it doesn’t matter, I just want to know about them anyways.

I think you have over-estimated your odds. Your 50-50s are reaches and you need better safeties as they are more like 50-50 at best.

Penn State isn’t a safety, 2/3 of their admissions decision is based on GPA.

None of those are safeties (unless you go to an extremely rigorous private school).

There is a HUGE difference between a 2100 and an 1830.

These are some of the best state schools in the country. A 3.1-3.3 UW GPA + international status + 1830 SAT is not going to cut it.

Check out Alfred University NY, I have described it on the thread, “Beyond the Rankings” which is an excellent thread.

Okay sorry guys…I get what you guys are saying haha…didn’t mean to say that I’m good or anything…but other than that…what about the business programs?

The cost of university is not going to be cheap for an international student. There is no need for you to look at state schools only, as you won’t qualify for in-state tuition.

I would apply to a number of safeties that might provide some academic scholarship money. With your stats, you should be looking at the undergraduate schools ranked in the 75-150 range by US News.

To answer your question, “What about the business programs?” - for the schools I am familiar with on your list : Michigan, Illinois, IU and Wisconsin - yes, they are all very good business programs - however, with you stats as they are right now I see all of these schools as being reaches for you.
