Never been there and have only a few hours to spare. Highlights? Your favorite restaurant? Thanks all.

No suggestions?

It’s been a long time since I actually spent time in Annapolis. It is a very walkable town, with shops, restaurants, etc. Sorry I don’t have more specific suggestions.

I can recommend a delightful restaurant, but it is a drive (maybe 15-30 minutes depending on where you are in Annapolis). It’s on the water in nearby Kent Narrows. It’s the kind of place that I heard wonderful things about so many times that I was sure I would be disappointed once I actually got there- that it couldn’t possibly live up to such lofty reviews and expectations.

I wasn’t and it did. It is casual, top quality, local seafood. All around excellent. It is worth a little drive if you have the time.

Depending on how much time you have, you could take a tour of the Naval Academy [US Naval Academy Visitor Center](http://www.usna.edu/NAFPRODV/VC/) and/or a harbor tour such as [Cruises: Explore Annapolis Harbor and US Naval Academy](http://www.watermarkcruises.com/cruises40min.htm).

Thanks, all! I’ll look into your suggestions.

Several years ago we took a sail on the schooner Woodwind out of Annapolis. It was a great afternoon.

rhsmom, just checked out that site and the sunset cruise sounds divine! I’m thinking a nice lunch followed by this cruise would make for a special day. I doubt we’d have time for a drive to The Narrows so can anyone comment on these restaurants for lunch? Stoney River Legendary Steaks (#5 Trip Advisor), Breeze (#3 Trip Advisor), Lewnes Steakhouse (#8 Trip Advisor), Osteria 177 (#10 Trip Advisor)? Or an alternative? Thanks everyone.

I loved Annapolis. On a work conference outing a few years ago, we did a walking tour of town, including the State House and the Naval Academy. The State House was where the “Treaty of Paris” was ratified.

If you’re walking around the City Dock area and want a refreshment, stop off at Chick and Ruth’s Delly for incredible milkshakes.

The Naval Academy is a fascinating place. I have toured it and enjoyed the tour immensely. Wandering around up and down the main road of Annapolis proper and the side streets is a lot of fun. Good shopping … from artsy boutiques to the marine hardware store that has everything.

A harbor cruise would be amazing. I have not done one – have not even been out on the water there – but I have friends with boats who love sailing there.
