Best way to travel to Florida State from NJ???
According to the map you take I-95 if you choose to drive. Then it depends on where in Florida you want to be. Panhandle, Central, East coast, Gulf coast… If you fly you need to figure out which city you want to land in. It’s a big state compared to many in the northeast. I just looked at my atlas, it ranks # 26 in area. But the shape means large distances from one end to the other, although from Gulf to Atlantic can be a day trip. I- 10 goes east west in the north and I-75 will take you from the Midwest to the Gulf side.
Do you mean the state of Florida? Or, looking again, do you mean Florida State UNIVERSITY in Tallahassee? If FSU you would likely take I-95 to I- 10 and head west. It would out of the way to first head west then south. You do not want to drive through the mountains or Atlanta (!), especially in winter (have done the WI to Tampa trip numerous times).
So sorry I was not clear—From NJ preferably Newark–flying to Florida State? Best airport to fly into–Also how do students get home? Is there a shuttle to an airport that flies direct?
There’s an airport in Tallahassee but you won’t find any direct flights from Newark. You would have to connect somewhere, probably Atlanta. Alternatively, there are some direct flights into Jacksonville airport but it’s a 2 1/2 hour drive to Tallahassee from JAX. Don’t know if there’s a shuttle or not, but the connecting flight is the way to go, IMO.
You can do a Google search (type in EWR - TLH flights) to get an idea of what’s available.
When my husband travels from Newark to Tallahassee, he flies United either to Tampa or Orlando and then takes Silver Air into Tallahassee. Using other airlines you can go through Atlanta or Charlotte.
I drive between NJ and central Florida quite often. Leaving from Morris County, I find it a much easier trip if I take 78 to 81 to 77 to 26 to 95 to 10. That sounds more confusing than it is! I rarely hit any traffic at all and it’s a far more scenic and stress-free drive.
