Best Women's Cashmere Sweater or Blazer

Just wanting feedback since I have rarely purchased cashmere but did buy ONE shawl collar cashmere sweater at LLBean (it has pilled badly after only about 12 wearings, so I am returning). Does anyone have suggestions on high quality cashmere sweater or blazer that are worth purchasing? Please advise. Thanks!

Cashmere has always pilled for me and I have had several sweaters. I just “shave” it with a small tool. If anyone knows of cashmere that doesn’t I woud be interested.

Yes, I have a small garment shaver, but the sweater I have has pilled badly everywhere throughout the sweater so I’m afraid there would be no sweater left if I started “shaving.”

If your cashmere pills - it was made from low quality yarn.

@BunsenBurner, do you have a recommended brand of cashmere to buy? I have never purchased cashmere before and was surprised and disappointed at how much it pills. :frowning:

I have bought many (like, five or so) cashmere sweaters from Lands’ End. Obviously, since I’ve bought so many, I like them. In fact, my weekday outfit is Lands’ End jeans, a Lands’ End long sleeve T shirt, and a Lands’ End cashmere cardigan sweater. Here:

Not only that, but I button them, turn them inside out, and wash them in the washing machine. Dry flat, of course. The cashmere is very soft and doesn’t pill. I had one of their sweaters for about eight years, but I wore it so much it literally wore through at the elbows.

Great, how true to size are these, @VeryHappy? If I wear a size 10 Lauren dress, would I wear a size 10 in this button down cardigan too? Do they ever go on sale?

They often have sales – or special deals, like “use code XYZ for 40% off.” I am very petite (I generally wear a size 2 petite) but I prefer wearing their petite size small instead of their petite size petite. The petite size was a bit too snug on me so I sized up, and the small is a bit loose. If I were you, I’d try their medium. You can always return it; IIRC, they provide free shipping. Or, you can return Lands’ End to a Sears store.

ETA: Look at their Home page. They have a sale – use code GOBBLE and PIN 3409 for 40% off.

Yes, thanks. I’m buying two for me and one for D and one for my sister. At 40% off and no pilling, it sounds too good to pass up! S will help me place my order after we return from feasting.

Enjoy!!

LOrd and Taylor’s stated a sale on women’s cashmere sweaters, began last night at 5. I think they are $40

Bloomingdales has their own brand, which comes in many styles. They have the traditional cardigan, like the one from Lands End, but also longer versions, V necks and crew.

I have a Vince cashmere sweater. Never has pilled. Was expensive though.

I also have two Kirkland’s (never heard of this brand) that were my dad’s and they are my favorites. No pulling either.

I bring my cashmere sweaters to the dry cleaners because the first time I hand washed (on hand wash cycle) it didn’t pill but made sweater fuzzy (only way I can describe it.)

@emilybee: Kirkland is Costco’s brand.

^ That makes sense - my mother loves Costco.

A sweater that pills is a pain in the neck. Sadly, quality cashmere costs a small fortune. I had good luck with Italian cashmere at Costco, but they no longer sell that brand apparently. Vince has been mentioned; I have three sweaters that don’t pill. I buy NWT higher end cashmere off RealReal or when it goes 70% off at department stores. So far, Max Mara and Prada did well.

Lands End is now 50% off—it’s looking like those are the ones I will be buying!

Sigh, it must be nice to be of average height et al. When I saw the thread I was reminded of how sleeve and torso lengths on sweaters can be so short. When I wear a sweater I want it to go to my wrist and past my waist… I want it to keep me warm. In the past I have tried on multiple brands at multiple stores without success. My howcum gripe is that the stores do so much for big and tall men and petite women but ignore those of us with the opposite needs (small H, tall me).

There are some sized “tall,” but unfortunately Lands End doesn’t seem to have them any more for the cashmere cardigans. It’s frustrating when the stores don’t have the needed proportions. Sorry, my arms are just about “normal” for my height, so fortunately I don’t have that issue. I’m hoping these sweaters don’t pill and keeping my fingers crossed.
