The best acceptance so far was from Patrick Henry College. Their letter went into detail about ds’ ECs and strengths and experiences and what admissions thought he would add to the class. Very special.

Stanford doesn’t even have the courtesy to MAIL rejections…

GVR90, Yale’s deferral letter was pretty nice though. They worded it very nicely and made it sound like I actually mattered (and maybe even had a shot…haha), even though I was only 1 of over 3,000. :P

I guess we’ll both see about the rejection letter in a few days! haha

the FAT envelope from CMU that came today is the best acceptance letter I’ve received so far. It’s a very well-designed spiral-bound book with guys in kilts on the front. It says “this is the official FAT envelope” in big print.

I haven’t seen anyone comment on the University of Miami’s acceptance package. This thing is a beast! It’s has like 30+ sheets of paper which are cleverly, organized with colorful images and pop-ups and whatnot. It was very nice.

Boston College has a pretty nice rejection letter…it actually kinda makes you feel good haha

Ugh. ^Stanford’s was definitely horrid. The blurb about being eco-friendly was B.S., considering they were the only school (that I know of) that required all paperwork to be mailed in those HUGE 9x12 envelopes. Hahaha. Whatever.

Yeah, Stanford’s rejection was pretty typical until the last paragraph:

Couldn’t they just have said something like ‘We’re trying to transition to a fully electronic system’ or something along those lines? Not ‘We’re not gonna waste paper on you rejects…’

OK, maybe that sounds bitter, but honestly, I’m not cut up about the rejection at all…I only applied because my mom wanted me to; wasn’t concerned one way or another (probably wouldn’t have gone). The actual rejection part doesn’t bother me, just that paragraph…

emory’s acceptance letter itself was pretty boring and simple but they sent me a tshirt about a month later.

stanford’s made me sooo mad with the whole “we’re going to be ecofriendly and not send your rejection letter” which really means "youre really not important enough to waste a piece of paper on…but then it says you can request your decision letter to be sent in the mail…EVERYONE should do that it would be hilarious (i did haha)

Yeah, Stanford’s rejection was just brutal…but Berkeley’s was nice (especially after that rejection from UCLA)

Waiting for Dartmouth, Cornell, and Columbia!

uchicago’s envelope is really pretty. especially the university scholarship folder. it has that dragon thing embossed in silver on the front. and a VERY nice certificate that says u were named a university scholar. lol it will be a shame if i dont go there to have to just file that certificate away.

Carleton’s rejection letter was pretty icky. Something like, “We know this isn’t what you were hoping to hear, but…” … yeah. okay. Thanks.

BC waitlist was SO bad… I squirm just thinking about it. Northwestern’s rejection was so-so. I mean, they didn’t insult my whole family or anything, but they basically said “You’re just not that sweet” haha

Duke’s rejection letter never used the word “rejected”; instead they said, “It is with great regret that I must tell you that we will not be able to offer you a place in the class entering Duke this fall.” They did recognize the fact that I had applied early decision. In retrospect, I wish I had known that Duke only accepts 10 percent of their 400 (about) deferred candidates. I may very well have applied early somewhere else. I wish they had just rejected me back in December rather than extend my mental sufferings.
On a separate note, Colorado College sent me a handwritten complement on my essay response to one of their questions. They also provided a free bumper sticker and an informative DVD.

I thought Stanford’s rejection was good because it was so to-the-point.
I heard BC’s waitlist sucked.
I thought Georgetown’s waitlist was horrible. Even the packaging… Two sheets of paper, one of them actually nice-ish paper, and a card… I won’t lie, I seriously thought it was an acceptance at first…
UVA’s acceptance (the actual packet) was lovely.

I never finished reading my Skidmore rejection letter. I got to the word “sorry” and ripped it up.

perhaps it said “sorry for making you wait this long, but i have GOOD NEWS! you were accepted!! and we’ll give you full merit scholarship too ;)”

^^ they should have. i think stanford was mostly cruel/incompetent in the fact that they sent out most of their decisions so late…some ppl still havent gotten it yet & its been a day since their decisions should have been sent!!

the letter itself tho i think was pretty nice (in teh beginning) since it sorta consoles u a bit about how ur still good…then the paper-saving thing kinda blows it

Rice’s rejection letter, which I just got, was hard, cold, and made me feel even worse than I did when I logged on their site and read ‘Admissions Decision: Deny’. Mainly it said, '…the Committee has elected to deny your request for admission…it is final…decision is not a negative reflection on your ability…blah blah"
