Best/Worst Admission/Rejection Letters

Does anyone know what the current acceptance letters from Rutgers and Cornell look like?

If I ever become a Dean of Admissions I’d decorate the outside of the reject letter really well and put like 20 blank papers on the inside. The single-word letter would say: NO

wow hopeland! just reading that made me sooo excited! Hope i get one as well this march!

It would be funny/cruel to put a big NO on the outside of the acceptance letter, and then follow it up with “you were not denied!! Congratulations” in small print.

not that I got in to MIT but my good friend did this year and this big container came with a poster and when you opened it confetti came out it was crazy! I was flipping out just as much as my friend! haha

Drexel sends some dragon folder thing…

THis is very interesting…
I’m excited to get mine…
hope it’s acceptence letter

Purdue’s is the only decision I’ve received back so far.

"blackbearies,

Congratulations. You’re admitted to Purdue. You’ll soon be receiving your “You’re a Boilermaker” packet, which will include your admission offer letter and information about your next steps. But I’d like to take a moment to tell you more about what it means to be a Boilermaker.

Purdue University is a place of great promise–where those with drive fully realize their dreams. Some of our stories you know. Others, you may not. We count 22 astronauts as alumni, including Neil Armstrong and Eugene Cernan (the most recent person to walk on the moon). Amelia Earhart is famous for being a pilot, but she also served as one of our faculty members – counseling women on careers in aviation. Before Drew Brees won a Super Bowl, he captained the Boilermaker football team all the way to the Rose Bowl. We have 7 Nobel Laureates, including this year’s recipient for Chemistry, Ei-Ichi Negishi. Did you see the movie Up? A Boilermaker was the voice of Dug the dog. We are New York Times best-selling authors. We connect kids with college mentors. We’re making advances that aim to end hunger, better detect and treat disease, and make the world a better place.

Simply put, what we make moves the world forward. Now, you have an opportunity to make a mark of your own. You can start by sharing the news that you’ve been admitted.

Well done, blackbearies. You have a promising future ahead of you. We hope you’ll fulfill that promise at Purdue.

Sincerely,

TL;DR unenthusiastic and impersonal acceptance letter. It kind of just seemed like bragging about their school. Thank goodness it was my safety, because the letter just kind of made me angry and not want to go.

UK acceptance “letters” anyone? Maybe they do send out packages (I haven’t gotten one yet), but 1)they’re just online on UCAS, 2)there is no congratulations whatsoever, 3) they do not even say “accepted” on it, it’s either “conditional offer” or “unconditional offer” and 4)at least mine talked about how the university considers me “OVERSEAS for fee payment.”

Ok, I realize that getting into KU is not that hard but their acceptance package is the best so far. First, if you meet a certain “bar” you find out within 48 hrs. of applying! So, it can be done! To top that off, they send out a terrific acceptance package complete with a certificate and some KU goodies. My son was also accepted into highly competitive, ivy status schools as well but his he enjoyed his acceptance into KU the most.

Cornell University sends “Cornell 2015” t-shirts and bumper stickers to parents. I think that’s perfect - when you “see red”, you get even more excited (and relieved).

From memory - Vanderbilt just sent a letter, but that is also GREAT!!!

A computer notification is nice - especially if it’s an admit - but having something tangible is the BEST!!!

IMO - the Purdue acceptance letter was fine. Since it’s an EA school and you’re not bound to go - they had to SELL it AGAIN!!! You may think you know all you need to know about Purdue, but I think it’s nice that they, once again, gave the school’s main attributes and highlighted graduates. Purdue knows they are competing with all the other EA and RD schools you’ve applied to and want to hit some high points. Cut them some slack.

I hate waiting, there is still 2 months to wait for the UC’s (university of california) decision

Babson sent me this fancy green folder with the letter, financial aid info, a book about finaid, and some medical stuff for me to fill out if I am going to attend. The Adcon even wrote (by hand) “congratulations xxx” on my letter.
HOWEVER, the finaid was SO bad that I just threw the whole package on the table without looking closely at it. :(

This thread makes me feel depressed because i’ve gotten rejected from most of my colleges so far :(. I wish i applied to more.

I did get a t-shirt from sbu though. That was just lovely, it really was. Such a nice touch!

I got a handwritten postcard, by the person who admitted me, from UChicago  It was nice. But darn a t-shirt would have been awesome… but they probably would have got my size wrong :). They sent a certificate too, which was really coolio. ooh ooh and a calendar.

any Montclair State acceptance or rejections yet

Re: NikesEcho
My daughter got a hat, well she calls it a beanie, from Emerson. It was also a day before her 18th… needless to say it was like the college remembered her birthday. They also send a royal purple and gold folder with all the information and housing options. Considering some of the others she received, I’d say this one was good :)

Another good experience is when we received a card in the mail saying we look forward to seeing you in the fall… we had yet to receive the actual admissions decision :)

Not sure if anyone’s posted it, but I got a huge package from Rice a week before expecting decision–which turned out to be on how to finance your education at their school. I got waitlisted a week later…

WashU’s acceptance was nice, it had a little flyer inside about how they’d fly you out over Spring to see the school before you had to make a decision.

Georgetown’s rejection was really curt, I found it extremely off-putting.

I was almost getting vaguely hopeful (stupid I know, but I couldn’t help it) when I got a letter from Yale a month after getting rejected online, it turns out it just took them 3 weeks to put their letters in the mail.

I got a very nice letter from the head of the Aerospace Department at Iowa State, congratulating me on my acceptance. But all I had done was fill out an online request for information!
